Question: Ford 8.8

Ok...so I want bigger axles someday. And the ford 8.8 seems to be the cheapest route which means I might be able to do this mod.

What do you all think about this? Also would you want to do both the front and back with a ford 8.8? Or does the explorer only have a 8.8 in the rear?

:)

I really want a Dana 44 but it looks like it isn't in the cards money-wise.

umm your going to have to weld on brackets tho. Try jeepsareus.com you will be surprised at the cost. I think that is the route you would like to go.

You can find junkyard TJ dana 44's that will bolt in.. decide if the extra cost works vs fabing the 8.8 for you.

Before I do anything I will search the junkyards for a Dana 44 front and rear. :)

I am just exploring my options.

Maybe its just my area but wranglers are hard as hell to find in a junkyard, and if you do find one, its usually stripped to the bone:banghead:

^ they are stripped to the bone because you are to slow :p
