Tube bumpers

Are tube bumpers still "in"? I like the looks of them, but my buddy thinks otherwise. What do ya'll think?

The bumpers I am refering to are the Rugged Ridge dual tube.

Scout 11-09-2006 10:07 AM

I would say no. Just my opinion though. ;)

If you like them then go for it. Owning a Jeep is all about personalizing it and making it your own. :D

:D

Personally I don't like them. You see them too much on poser Jeeps. I do like what Vector6 did to his though. It at least sets it apart from all the others.

04tjinsa 11-09-2006 11:25 AM

I have them and now wish I had gotten something more functional like a stinger. But it is all about what you like.

I thought I remembered someone asking about this awhile back.

Missed that in my search...

Saw a jeep with tube bumpers when I was at lunch... Didn't like as much as I thought I would... Didn't look functional like 04tjinsa stated.

Scratched it from my wish list :D

activelydying 11-09-2006 02:44 PM

i honestly don't think they look that bad. what exactly is a poser jeep, just want to make sure.

tiny terror 11-09-2006 02:49 PM

Jeeps that only touch pavement put have extras to make them look as though they offroad.

When am I getting a copy of the rule book, I missed some classes while I was out getting pizza and SimpleScout's notes suck. :D

activelydying 11-09-2006 02:53 PM

gotcha. when you're done with the rule book, could you pass it on. i still like those bumpers.

tiny terror 11-09-2006 02:56 PM

I was partial to them too, until I saw some of Rokman's bumpers.

activelydying 11-09-2006 03:06 PM

i guess i'm just a simple man with simple tastes.

Isn't that the same as plastering a honda civic with stickers to make it go faster... :D :D :D

hey Outlaw, don't forget huge fins

activelydying 11-09-2006 03:11 PM

hey thanks tiny, and stickers do make a vehicle go faster.

Scout 11-09-2006 03:24 PM

My stickers didn't make me go any faster?!?! Did I put them on wrong?

tiny terror 11-09-2006 03:30 PM

Try the sticky side down.

come to think of it though, i just took the sahara stickers off and i think because of the decrease in weight, i may be getting better gas mileage.

soopasteve 11-10-2006 10:51 PM

fugly...

and better aerodynamics
which = SPEED

hardy1531 11-11-2006 03:14 PM

Tube bumpers give you better flex. and the weight to speed ratio decreases so you will get better gas mileage too. lol:D

mrbigjeep 11-11-2006 03:40 PM

do you buy any chance have tube bumpers on your jeep? :D

hardy1531 11-12-2006 12:21 PM

Me? no I have the stock bumpers minus the "Jugs".... for now.

.....because tube bumpers are round and the air slips around them instead of getting all caught up on those corners other bumpers have. :D just saying

IBTJn 11-12-2006 04:33 PM

Wheelin' friend of mine has them on his CJ (which is anything but a mall cruiser)...not my cup of tea either. But indeed it's all about what YOU like...not what anyone else likes IMO. Example: Here's one of my friends CJ with short tubes. They look fine to me on his rig.

Vs. My TJ (which I also wanted something different)

Go for what you like though...and the heck with others. If you find they aren't function for your uses, then replace it.

Just my $.02
;)
