2.4L snorkel

I hate my CAI and I have been wanting to replace it with a snorkel for a while but I haven't been able to find one that fits the 2.4L. I found this on Northridge4x4.com and I e-mailed them and they said this would fit the 2.4L
is that true? IDK if I believe them, does the 4.0 and 2.4L take the same snorkel kit? I have an 06 2.4L

I dont know if the 4.0L and the 2.4L have the air intake system or not... However, I have the 2.4L with a ARB Safari snorkel, and I love it!

Did you buy the 4.0L snorkel from 4wd.com and install it on the 2.4L? the link you posted was for the 4.0L 6 cyl. it says.

nicolas-eric 10-23-2009 07:29 AM

The 4.0L snorkel should fit on a 2.4L.

adkjoe 10-23-2009 08:26 AM

That is some great news, no I can get rid of this damn CAI. Anyone else object to the 4.0L snorkel not fitting the 2.4L?

nicolas-eric 10-23-2009 08:29 AM

Could you show some pics of the engine compartment of a 2.4L?

Yea I can in a bit, what specifically do you want to see?

nicolas-eric 10-23-2009 09:06 AM

The location of the air box. Is there enough room beside the air box?
Make some pics of the pass. side engine compartment.

In a 4.0L it looks like this.
You can see the metal plate at the side of the air box and the hose on it goes under the battery to the snorkel.

The 4.0L snorkel will fit. But you need an airbox with a filter for it.

adkjoe 10-23-2009 11:36 AM

I still have the stock airbox in my garage would that work with it?

nicolas-eric 10-23-2009 11:45 AM

That would work IMO.
Does it look like the 4.0L airbox?

adkjoe 10-23-2009 11:57 AM

Stock 2.4L airbox (pics from google but thats what mine looked like before I took it out)

nicolas-eric 10-23-2009 12:06 PM

How does it look in the front?
You have to install these thing somewhere on th box. Thatīs where the hose connects to the airbox.

http://up.picr.de/3122778.jpg

Perhaps you can install it under the airbox.

adkjoe 10-23-2009 12:31 PM

The guy at Northridge4x4.com said it would fit...heres the stock airbox from the front.

jvc 10-23-2009 12:57 PM

It will fit. You only have to find a way to connect the hose to the airbox.

Btw it also fit with A/C.

adkjoe 10-23-2009 01:25 PM

I just called ARB directly and they said it will fit, they said it's the same kit for the 4.0 and 2.4L :D Problem solved...that was easy!

nicolas-eric 10-23-2009 01:27 PM

Ask them to send you a pic of the airbox with the installed snorkel.
In the install instructions they only show the 4.0L.

jvc 10-23-2009 01:27 PM

kewl.... another U-boat commander soon to be in service ... LOL

nicolas-eric 10-23-2009 01:32 PM

I really like the snorkel. That makes you feel very safe in deep water crossings.
When I was wheeling the last time the water was deeper than I thought and all fender flares were completey covered with water. Some water came into the insde through the softtop zippers. But the engine worked fine. Without a snorkel that would have been a very expensive water crossing.
