Insurance for a lifted Wrangler.

I just got off of the phone with my insurance company to see how adding a Wrangler to my policy would change the premiums. "No use buying something you can afford to find out you can't afford the insurance." They asked is the vehicle modified in any way since they also wanted to cover the additional cost of modifications. I said currently no, but may add a lift later. So they informed me that they will not cover a Wrangler that has been lifted greater then 3" and has tires 2" or bigger then stock. Has anyone else come across this?

Ameriprise is my insurance company.

No, but they don't know mine is modified. I'm sure its all covered though. I have a very good policy and agent.

Here is a decent write up about the topic. While most modifications can be worked out with your insurance company, there are some insurance-friendly details you should b

The only issue i've ever encountered is on my rims of my car where i upgraded them without telling the insurance company, they didn't cover them when they were damaged in a hit and run. I'm sure they would have just jacked up the premium as a CYA had I told them.
