2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, $13,999 - Cars.com

thanks going to look at it tomorrow and get some more pic on my camera anything to look for or to make sure it has or might be wrong?

distortedtj 10-26-2009 11:47 PM

Look nice to me. Rubi with a 3.5 inch rubicon express lift.

If it's what you want go for it.

Looks clean.

Search the forum for stuff to look for, there a couple good threads about it.

very nice Rubicon... and low mileage 47,196 for a 2003...

7866/year ? (2003 - 2009 or 6 years)

I don't see a "locker" switch for it on the center bezel... you might want to double check before buying. There should be one switch marked "axel lock" and it's not there.

This is a regular TJ Sport, there's no stock rocker guards or bolt holes for the rocker guards and plus if you click on the "carfax" it states TJ Sport under the VIN

It looks like either previous owner or dealer put the "Rubicon" hood sticker on there.

Pilotguy 10-27-2009 02:36 PM

Buy it and then sue the dealer for fraud.

2002Apex 10-27-2009 02:49 PM

yeah def not a rubi. no lockers, rocker panels, nor larger fender flares.

countryboy19 10-27-2009 02:55 PM

any advantage of getting a 04 vs 05 vs 06 rubicon

snwchris 10-27-2009 04:21 PM

I believe that 05 & 06 introduced the LJ Unlimited Rubi, which gives a longer wheelbase and more room in the back of the Jeep.

03 had special color choices of Inca Gold & Electric Lime Green.
05 had Impact Orange as special color.

It kindof depends on what your plans are for the Jeep as well.

here are what i have narrowed it down to Cars.com: Saved Vehicles

thanks by the way everyone hope to post alot of pic and vid of it offroading after i get it!!!

Twozerofd 10-27-2009 05:02 PM

04 only has the 5 speed tranny, from 05-06 they went to 6 speed.

jdub2k5 10-27-2009 05:11 PM

ya, get an older tj with more of a lift for like 8-10k

I picked up a 99 with 6 inch lift, 35tires, real beadlocks, trailjammer intake/throttle package, bushwacker flares and tons of other stuff for 8250 out the door

these engines will easily last 200k even if you abuse em like us

countryboy19 10-27-2009 06:46 PM

i hear you on the older ones but i have to be driving it to work on the road. i am looking for a strong and drivable street jeep that is great in the mud. i thought a 04 to 06 rubicon is the best jeep to get.

Lennyd96 10-27-2009 06:49 PM

Hi I work at a jeep dealer and I ran the vin number on it. It comes up as a 2003 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT 4X4 SPORT UTILITY

y thank you for doing that. when i went to the store selling it they told me it was a sport with a rubicon sticker on it.
