Which lift kit?

Alright guys I'm stuck between two lifts here. The rough country 6" long arm, or the rock krawler 5.5" long arm. Now I know that the rock krawler is the better lift by far. But is it worth the extra cash? I'm 18 and I wanna get into more of the big trails and a little crawling nothing serious. This is my daily driver so it needs to perform just as well on the street and highway. I'm hoping some of you have experience with these kits and the information will be a lot of help to me. Also I have a parts list that i susposebly need just not sure if I need it all. I know I need a sye and driveshafts but not sure on the other stuff. Thanks be easy on me.

Why so high. Especially for a daily driver. Both of those kits will require a sye and ds which is more money. What size tires are you looking to run?

Ive never ran RK but heard their springs are pretty stiff. As far as RC. Ive got a 4.5 rc on my xj and its held up fine. I know they get a lot of hate but ive been happy with mine(short arm)

Yea they have good reviews. But yea rough country is a good price and glad to see a good review on them

Well if you're on a budget, I would probably just keep the 3" lift and then put a 1" or 1.25" Body lift on, they aren't the best looking but with a size that small you'll barely notice and you won't have to invest in a sye and a cv driveshaft. And also you could put in some coil spring spacers, I wouldn't go too big with that though. But if you kept the 3" Suspension and put a 1.25 Body lift you got a 4.25" of lift there. And then you could add a .75 coil spacers from RC and have a 5" lift. Or you could go bigger on the coil spacers if you want a even more lifted look. But if you go with a bigger suspension like a 4"+ you'll have to spend a good bit of money to do it right. And if you aren't doing much extreme rockcrawling or anything then the 3" suspension should suit you just fine. Then with the money you could save you could buy some other stuff!

Yea I'm not a fan of body lifts even if they are tiny. I'm willing to spend the money if it's worth it. I don't wanna be driving around with all kinds of stuff for a lift. I want it to look clean. Because I'm going to have this jeep for a while.

have you checked out the bds 6 1/2" long arm coil over system? from what I have heard, it is one of the best lifts on the market. now I know it is very expensive, but as long as you are the original owner of the lift, they will replace anything that break no questions asked.

Looks like a nice kit but it's around the same price as the rock krawler

Not really a useless statement he is making a point. Does one good review make up for all the bad on rc? I'm not knocking whoever runs RC. I've been asked to fix jeeps with franken lifts before. Not easy. I bought a jeep once with 6 + inches of lift on short arms. Horrible ride. I bought it for 500 dollars just to take parts off of it. In my opinion, you never need much more then 4 inches of lift for what ever you want to run for tires. You would be much better off changing your fenders to get the added clearance and tummy tucking. Just my 2 cents.

this, but it wont impress the boys at the mall as much. just perform better in just about every terrain

Well if you don't have experience with the lift then you shouldn't be bashing it because of what you heard from others. And yea 4" of lift you could run 37s with the right fenders and other stuff. But I like the 5.5" or 6" kits more.

I didn't think I was bashing anyone. And I have seen lots of shit components in my time. Not all of which are RC. My point was there is no point in crazy high lifts. The only real clearance you ever gain is from your tires. The lift is just to make room for bigger tires. Now there is a lot more to it then that but that is the black and white. You will have a huge lift on a wrangler that will blow thru joints and bearings because of the extra stress on them due to the retarded angles from the lift that isn't really giving you more clearance in the first place. You asked for opinions when you started the thread. I gave you mine. Not trying to be a prick and I hope it works out for you.
