flowmaster 50 or 60

I have read alot about flowmaster 40 serious, however when i called flowmaster the tech guy said he wouldnt put a 40 on a jeep to save his life, said it would sound crappy, but opinions are like buttholes, we all have them, he told me a 60 would be his first option, then a 50 if he wanted it a bit louder.. he sais the 60 would still give it the flowmaster sound, just wouldnt drive you out of the cab while driving at higher rpms, I have a soft top..

so just curious what your thoughts are, Im sure most will say the 40 is just fine and i might just go with it anyways.
Also looking at magnaflow, i hear they sound just as good and come in stainless...

I have a 50 on mine and it's not loud at all to me. Hard top, soft top, no top... It works well for any combo. I still have the stock manifolds and cat. Flowmaster 50 Delta Flow with 2.25" piping I think. I like the sound.

50

I guess the 50 will fit, the guy at flowmaster told me he wasnt sure if it would fit because its so long, thats why he told me to go with the 60 instead

regret

I just dont want to regret it being i drive this thing to work and sometimes me and the wife take it to dinner on the weekends, i want good sound, rumble, etc.. just dont want it overpowering loud, obnoxious:) Then she wont want to ride in the jeep anymore:(

wait a sec, maybe this is what i need:) JK

With the 50 you do have to get a little creative with the mounting or it will hit the lower control arm and make a lot of noise... Any decent exhaust shop could correct that however. It is def not obnoxious. My buddy drove it around for a while and I could barely hear it in the house when he came and went, and I can't hardly hear it over my tires either when I am on the road.

I have the 40, not too loud, has a nice rumble and doesnt sound like a rice burner. I also have a soft top.

price

I called a local shop today and they told me to put in a delta 40 flowmaster is $130, I was looking around to see if i could find the muffler cheaper and put it in myself for alot less, havnt had much luck, im going to go by there tomorrow and see if he will toss in a new tailpipe and then i will make it a done deal. hell even $150 is probably a deal. I also plan to have a bolted flange added in just before the cat so i can unbolt if i ever need to change the manifold, would like a header in the future..

i have a 40 flowmaster on mine. its not real load, but has a real nice low tone to it. its a little smaller and fit nicely up underneath. it does not sound like a rice burner.

i like the sound without the cat but i feel like it is there for a reason

will i pass inspection and emissions in PA without it? will i lose any power?

and i am looking at the 40 either way
