I have a 1990 Jeep Wrangler. I have a hard time getting the Jeep into 1st gear or reverse. Reverse will grind and first is difficult to get into when I am sitting at a set of lights. I do have some luck on both first and reverse when I go into third or fourth gear and then go into first or reverse. I just changed the transmission fluid (SAE 75W-90) but that only helped slightly. Once I am going it shifts fine. Any ideas out there. I appreciate.

Hmmm, Is your jeep lifted? Because it could be the tub interfering with the shifter enough to give you a headache at a stand still. If that is it then it's cheap and easy just take the boot off and move the shifter around.
Other than that I don't have a whole lot of experience with tranny internals.

Check Clutch Fluid.

No, my Jeep is not lifted and the clutch fluid is OK. I was hoping that if there was a different type of transmission fluid available it would help my problem. Thanks for the help NY94YJ and 1BLKJP

try bleeding your hydraulic clutch. maybe release bearing?

This may sound like a silly answer, but I've experienced this firsthand and so have a few other people I know. It may possible be the clutch master cylinder. It doesn't show any visible signs of leaking, but doesn't hold pressure internally and leaks back into the reservoir. Also, I know you just changed your tranny juice, but change it again with synchromesh. Your synchros will thank you.
