Subject: 2001 JEEP WRANGLER No Disappointments

The title of this thread comes from an add found on Craigslist on a 2001 Wrangler posted for sale. The following is my email reply to his add claiming the jeep gets 25-28mpg, along with his reply back.

ME: You’re positive this jeep gets 25-28 mpg?

Him: I have been buying Jeep Wranglers to fix up and resale. I am not a dealer just a retiree trying to makes some extra $$. I purchased this Jeep in Richardson, Texas. I drove from there to here and got 28 mpg highway. I have only drove this Jeep a little over 300 miles since I have had.

IS THIS POSSIBLE????

Hell no. Unless he drove right behind a 18 wheeler truck. Pushing a brick though the air kills MPG.

OH wait a MINUTE is Richardson texas to where the guy lives ALL down hill? Like a 6 % grade all the way??????????

Or did he forget that he filled up TWICE on that trip?

unless it was being towed :-) there is no way I get 11mpg on my setup

If any of you frequent Craigslist, find Tulsa, Oklahoma and search for jeep wrangler under the car/truck catergory. It's listed there, and quite amusing.

the 2001 is getting dmpg : dealer's miles per gallon

my 1999 TJ Sahara 6 cyl auto gets 15 mpg calculated after a fillup this morning.

4 cylinder with a 3 speed... Unless that 4 cylinder just so happens to be a cummins 4bt there is way. Either he didn't do his math correctly or he saw that mileage onine somewhere and went with it... Or the add is a fake.

Steer way clear of that one.....25-28 MPG!!!...sure thing and I got some flying donkeys to sell that I found on my way back from Texas.

thewhoissuperb24 11-16-2009 11:36 PM

Wait. When did a 4cyl Wrangler get THOSE numbers? Did Jeep silently introduce a hybrid model? :p

Seriously, a 3 speed (which I dislike those trannies) is not a decent MPG tranny..3 speeds..and what, no O/D? Hmmm..

And the only Wrangler that I'm allowed to look at is automatic, in the YJ generation...

Well, I guess I'd make do..

28 mpg..mmff..hahahahah! LOL

I'm not in the market to buy a jeep, I have one....I just look on C-List every now and then to see what's for sale out there in my area. I couldn't resist replying to the ad when I saw such great MPG'S!!! LOL

B.S. Unless he has put higher gears, a high-efficiency engine, lowered, etc. All of which making the jeep...well not a jeep.
