Adjusting Pinion Angle For CV Driveshaft
 
Hello.

My rear pinion and DS angle is way off. Itīs 8-9 degrees instead of the 1-2 degress that it must have.

My problem is, that I have only about one hour tomorrow to fix that before a longer trip. At the moment I have annoying vibes. Btw could something be damaged because of these vibes on a 100 miles trip?

Could you please tell me how often I have to turn my Currie adj. UCAs (make them longer) to have the right length for a correct pinion angle?

A friend said that my rear track bar already rubs at the gas tank skid. If this is right, how often do I have to turn my Currie adj. LCAs (make them shorter) to have the right lenght for a correct pinion angle?

Sorry for this question, but I donīt have the time for serveral trials.

Hey my uppers measure 15 1/16 of a inch center of hole to center of hole on the control arm for my adjustable uppers.

Mine is also for a 4in lift.

I have 5-5.5" lift and a 3-3.5" belly-up skidplate.
My Currie CAs are used (only 3 months old) and they are adjusted for a 4" lift with a stock TC plate. But they are too short...

I would spin them longer 1 inch and the vibes will go away and it will be happy sailing. You go 1in longer for every inch of lift with a CV up to like 6in if I remember correctly. So 1in back should put you in the 0-3 degree range for no vibes.

1" more (UCA) or less (LCA) will be ok? Then Iīll give it a try tomorrow.

With a "higher" pinion the angel between the TC yoke and the DS would also become better. Itīs 19-20 degrees at the moment, the maximum is 34 degrees.

I hope that all the vibes will be gone than. With only the front DS (front wheel drive) there were no vibes. Now with the rear DS itīs really annoying at speeds +35 mph.

Could I damage something with this bad opinion angle? Today I drove home about 30 miles from a friends garage to my home.

ehh not really for the vibs you are kinda hurting your u joints in the rear but not much. If you want you can move the (UCA's 3/4in longer) (LCA's 1/2in shorter) I mean it all depends on the thread too that is left on the adjustment. You may have to get creative in getting it back to normal by moving both sets a little. That also creates that much more work. Hope you work fast :p

I donīt have such a thing.
Tomorrow I have to adjust it as good as possible without such a tool.

But I can do it again exactly some days later. How does it work with this angle finder?

Today I didnīt find the time to fix that.
Is there a good write-up where I can see how to set the pinion angle?
Where can I buy such an angle finder?
