Unable to start or run unless gas pedal depressed
1999 Wrangler TJ - 2.5
This is the first time since purchased new that my wrangler has failed to start. Came out this morning to start my vehicle and it turned over fine but would not fire. Pressed down on the gas pedal when cranking and it fires right up but immediately cuts out when I release the pedal. I repeated this scenario 4 or 5 times before jumping in my wifes car and heading off to work.
Any ideas on where to start looking - Jeep was running without issue prior to this morning.
Sounds exactly like your IAC (idle air controller) is so dirty that it's not allowing air into the engine per its job when you're not stepping on the accelerator pedal. Though the thread at http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/bogg...igh-40235.html is for the 4.0L engine, it talks about how to clean the IAC with a can of throttle body cleaner. Your 2.5L has a similar IAC but I'm not sure if it's exactly as shown in the illustration in that thread.
This should be about a $6 fix for you. :)
