local jeep salvage yard?

is there any local junk yard where i can get some dana 44's out of a rubicon? i live close to wichita.

thanks
nate

distortedtj 12-02-2009 11:01 PM

Nope. Sorry. I've looked for the about the last 4 years. Only once found a TJ in a junkyard within a 75mi radius. And it was just a tub and frame.

It's hard for yards to even get jeeps in. They have more value as parts for anyone to sell. And sell fast.

Your best bet would to look around Colorado craigslist or Daveysjeeps.com.

Good luck in your search.

PS...I live in Wichita.

Eric06Rubi 12-09-2009 08:29 AM

wichita here too. no jeeps to be found locally.

try Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market nation wide search for used auto parts.

good luck

do either of you live on the east side?

i went out playing sunday and was wondering if you saw a my jeep rinning around, it was once yellow, but i put a redneck paint job on it...:D:punk:

its now brown, the only thing left yellow is the grill and tailgate.

distortedtj 12-15-2009 11:26 PM

Nope was at work. But I kinda live on the E-side.

MAFB.

I;m a west sider here. havent done much playing since the weather got cold, and my Heep got pushed from daily driver to weekend warrior thanks to a company truck to drive.
but if you have a legal place and there isnt a huge amount of mud involved i might be in.

Eric

Go to Tuttle Creek ORV Park if you guys want a local place to go. It's up by Randolph, KS, northwest of Manhattan. It's open 7 days a week and there is no entrance fee. I realize it's somewhat of a drive for you southerners, but it's worth it. I get out there once a month, maybe more. I hate mud, so I've been avoiding it lately, but there are trails for everyone. I've seen bone stock Jeeps there and I've seen full-on 4wheel steer buggies there. It's cool. Here's a pic of my Jeep, if you see me down your way, wave. I've got California tags on it, but that's because I was stationed out that way. I live in Beloit, KS, about 2.5 hrs North of you guys.

Been my experience that the sticks don't really care for that bright green paint. :flipoff:

Hahaha........yep, you're deeper into the boonies than I am!! Western Kansas is the epitome of the boonies. I went to school at Fort Hays State University for two of the 7 years I went to school. Hays was alright, but the weather sucked.

Yep sure am, im going there this year then heading over to Kstate and salina, so ill be close to Tuttle Creek. so i can go out there and play somemore.

crazyredneck 12-24-2009 10:43 PM

i live about 20 minutes from a town in either direction. its considered BFE in this area

MR.CLIFFORD 12-24-2009 10:45 PM

Benton has a gas station. And a liquor store. That is not BFE :flipoff:

Drummer_192 12-26-2009 08:44 AM

Our town has nothing but a post office and a co-op. Closest grocery store is 24 miles away. It is BFE out here.

Are you headed to K-State AND Salina? Or K-State IN Salina? I'll be going to K-State IN Salina next fall for commercial pilot school.

Very true. Some of my buddies are stationed at Fort Riley, so we can meet them with their Jeeps at Tuttle Creek ORV Park and do some wheeling. I'm down in Derby/Wichita a lot as well. We'll have to meet up with Distorted and Andy too since they're from down that way.

distortedtj 12-30-2009 06:28 PM

Well I just got my jeep hauled back out there yesterday in that damn snow storm. Was a fun trip in a few spots. Had to lock the ol' cummin in 4wd a few times just going down the road. :D

I'm back in Missouri till the end of the week. I have to wait for a few parts and I'll be tearing my jeep down for the winter. Should be put back together and ready to go by spring time.

MR.CLIFFORD 12-30-2009 07:38 PM

Look for me a replacement while you're out there. How did the ole S10 do for towing?

ks90yj 12-31-2009 01:48 AM

What up everyone? Wichita too. Just got a new jeep. No more YJ

MR.CLIFFORD 12-31-2009 09:08 AM
