Hi, I have a 93 wrangler 2.5l 5spd. My rear brakes are not working at all. I removed the drums and neither one of them move at all. They don't move when the parking brake is applied either. I blead the rear brakes and there is fluid coming from the lines but it didn't help the problem. Is it possible that both wheel cylinders are bad? There was alot of mud and crap in the brakes and i cleaned everything up good and spayed everything with wd40 hopeing it would loosen things up. Thanks in advance for any help.

Cleaning all the junk out is a good idea but be careful with the wd if you get it on the shoe surface it will ruin them.
Pulling the brakes apart and cleaning and lubing the pivot points would be better.
If the wheel cylinders are not leaking they should be fine unless the pistons are locked up and again pulling them apart and cleaning them could be a good idea.
Applying the parking brake and nothing moving is not good. Did the parking brake pedal move ?

I only sprayed wd on the moving parts not on the shoes. When i apply the parking brake the pedal moves and there seems to be resistance but nothing moves at the brakes.

have you checked the parking brake cable for full travel at the rear brakes?

Yeah but i dont think a problem with the parking brake would keep the regular brakes from working.

Sounds like your calipers may be shot. Do they move at all? If they dont then that`s probably why your rear brakes don`t work, if you`re not sure, they are only about $5.00

It was the wheel cylinders. The previous owner obviously never cleaned the brakes so they ended up rusting. I replaced them tonight and the brakes work great now.
