Water Pump

So... I noticed a puddle of anti freeze under the jeep today. Took it to the mechanic next door and he tells me to go get the parts and he will fix it for $130. Needs a new water pump. How bad am I being ravaged?

Not bad compared to what a dealer will charge you. $130 for doing it is pretty reasonable.

But it isn't a difficult task to under take with simple hand tools.

There are also several step by step writeups on how to do a water pump replacement. <-- for if you want to tackle it yourself.

I'd spend the 130 on new tools and do it myself and have tools left at the end of the job instead of empty pockets. :D

Stu Olson's web site has a good step by step article about changing out a water-pump, which would also include a thermostat. I agree with Clifford, spend the money on tools, if you need them. However, $130.00 is pretty cheap.

I paid them to do it. Didnt want to since I just ordered wheels for it. But it is snowing like a MF and I wanted to play in it.
