Replacing Fuel Tank Skid Plate
I'm planning on replacing my fuel tank skid plate tomorrow. I have the skid plate, (2) straps. I have the fuel pump gasket depending on how it looks. Just wanted check on a couple of things. Looks like I need some new hardware. Can all of the bolts/nuts be replaced? Can I just disconnect the filler and vent tube up at the filler neck protector. How much room do I have to lower the tank so I can disconnect the supply line, return line, and harness? Are the lines just hose clamped at the pump? If so I might as well replace them too right. And also any tips? Tank is pretty much empty.

Yeah, all the nuts/bolts can be replaced. I believe there are seven sets of nuts/bolts all together. Three on the front of skid plate and four on the rear. The front three are carriage bolts, the rear four are not.

I believe you can (don't wuote me, tho) disconnect the filler and vent tube at the filler neck and shift the tank to the right as you drop it down. That should let you get it out of there.

If you are replacing the skid plate and straps, the tank has to come all the way out, so you can take care of the lines/harness during that process I would think.

Ok well so far i'm just trying to loosen some of the bolts and the bolts towards the rear of the vehicle come off easy. On the other hand the bolts towards the front of the vehicle are giving me hell. The problem is that I can't hold the heads of the bolts to spins the nuts off. Why didn't they just use carriage bolts on all of them. Or did they and someone replaced them. A bunch of rust built up under there. I'm taking a break and i'll come back to them later. It seems like it would be clear sailing after that.
