4cyl vs 6cyl
Hey Guys
I need to make a decision on whether to replace my 2.5L or make the change to the 4.0L. My YJ is in reasonably good shape with 120K miles. I sucked in water and busted the crankcase. I plan on towing the jeep behind a truck and camper to use it for hunting/off road exploring etc. This is not my daily driver but I do like to drive it around town and to the beach in the summer. Any advice, especially technical would be great. Thanks

If you plan on towing it, as long as you don't plan on putting huge tires on it, I would recomend staying with the 4 banger. From what I've heard, swapping in the six takes a lot of work (new computer, tranny, etc). The 4 has plenty of power for offroad and weighs less. But if you plan on building up the Jeep a fair amount or do much highway driving, the six would be nice.

i agree. if it sees limited hiway use, just throw another 4 in there

I agree with what they said stay with the 4cyl if your going to go through the trouble of doing a major engin swap you may as well go with a 350

I am going to take your advise about the 4 banger. Do you know of a really good vendor where I can get an engine?
