spare tire stolen SoCal

So someone stole my spare tire this morning. I live in Moreno Valley CA. I have a 2013 Rubicon with the new style wheels. If anyone sees one for sale on Craigslist or local please let me know.

Sadly this happens often. If you havent put on locking nuts yet I'd do that.

HappyJKU 12-04-2013 06:17 PM

Bummer! I put the locking nuts on right after I got the Jeep.

Just bought a set on Amazon

Timberline 12-05-2013 09:03 AM

Had the same thing happen to mine last year. Good news was that I still had the stock spare on it...lol I replaced with the matching 32 and also have 3 locking lug nuts and a cable lock securing it on there!! Just sucked having to buy a new rim and tire. They could have at least left my old lug nuts that were holding it on there...uugghhh

I really don't want to buy another stock size tire, I was getting ready to buy a lift kit and a new set of wheels. Pretty much changed all my plans. I'm gonna try finding a cheap spare on Craigslist just for emergencies.

Or even check with some of your local tire shops as they may have a decent used one you can purchase. We have a local shop that specializes in the sale of only used tires.

True, I have a friend with a tire shop.

Since it was a "stock" tire and rim, you may be able to find one at the boneyard too. Call around!

dawhitesJKU 12-05-2013 11:34 AM

bummer. sorry to hear that. invest in a bolt lock for prying eyes. Even though mine won't stop thieves from trying, it helps reduce any chances they might get.

Or at least makes it a little tougher job than just changing a tire from yours to theirs

XJ_Phil 12-05-2013 02:11 PM

I left Mo Valley about 25 years ago because it was getting so - you know!

fccwpe 12-05-2013 05:48 PM

I just left Perris for the high desert cause it was getting bad. I feel for ya though. Couple years ago my house in perris got robbed and I lost 6 firearms, game consoles, and a computer. I felt violated.

Just got my McGard locking lugs today.

Interestingly, there is a single tire/wheel combo of this type for sale on L.A. Craigslist......

Got a link?

I saw this one today in IE craigslist. I think it'd be tough to prove its yours though.

BFG Mud Terrain 255/75/17 w/ Free 2013 Jeep Rubicon...

But it's there if you need a new spare.

That's the one.

Already met up with a guy, that wasn't mine. He wasn't driving the Jeep though so that was kinda questionable

phnguyen7 12-16-2013 09:18 PM

ran into this one

New Jeep Rubicon spare tire and wheel

If your Jeep is still new, and those are stock tires and rims......wouldn't the serial numbers on the tires match up to your spare? Seems to me that would be enough proof to involve the police in order to make them return it to you. Just sayin............

Or maybe (if they do match up), offer the guy fifty bucks to give you your tire and rim back before you call the cops! See how he reacts to that offer.
