Gearing Question

 This is a rather silly question, but I'm confused on some of the particulars of gearing. When people regear for bigger tires, they gear UP, which SHOULD mean less power delivered but less revy, following the rules of gears...but doesn't it mean more power delivered and the same or more revy, because they use it for bigger tires?

techically. the gear RATIO goes up the higher the secondary number is.... I E 4:10 gears will have a higher top end speed, but less acceleration. a 4:88 gear ratio will have a lower top end speed, but more acceleration.
Big tires=lower torque but higher top end speed.
small tires=high torque but lower top end speed.
when regearing because of a lift and bigger tires you are basically compensating

Larger gears = numarically lower
Smaller gears = numarically higher

IE...

3.07's...smaller gears
4.88's...larger gears

Does that help?

Okay...so for bigger tires you would go with a gearing like 4.88's, that would provide less torque, but have a higher top end? It just seems counterintuitive to me. Wouldn't you want more torque to move bigger tires?

Scratch that, I misread it. I get it now :P.
