TJ? rear axle
 
Can anyone tell me what a D44 rear TJ axle looks like? I looked at an 02 TJ and the rear axle did not look the same as my YJ? It kind've looked rounder than other D44's that I've seen.

It looks a little like the 35 but also looks like the Chyl. 8.25? I think I'll have to look again.

Unless the rear axle has been swapped, it's not a Chrysler 8.25. The only axles Jeep installed into the rear of a TJ were the standard Dana 35c and optional Dana 44.

Axle Identification Chart

and don't always rely on the metal plug, i laughed to myself a few weeks ago because i had an old yj 35 non c clip diff cover laying around all cleaned and painted, and they came with metal plugs 87-90 or so, and i put it on a tj i did a diff service on. someone is gonna get all screwed up, lol. :D

ya, ryan from here was over to, we were laughin. the owner of the tj isn't really into much mods, but i can see someone down the line....woohoo, look what i have.... :rofl:
