Fabricated Rear Bumper/Tire Carrier

4 Attachment(s)
Just thought I'd share a few photos of my work on my Jeep over Christmas. A friend and I worked on the bumper and tire carrier for a few days. By the time I was done I almost had enough in it to have bought one, but I still had fun with it. The finish is a bedliner spray. Let me know what you think!

Thanks for the compliments guys! Having other Jeep friends, we’ve talked about making a few more and trying to sell them. I know this one is much heavier duty than most aftermarket bumpers. Think there’s a market for a rear bumper design like this?

It appears he drilled a hole through the swing arm and used a clevis pin and has a cotter pin holding it in place

tet1070 02-15-2010 09:46 AM

Can you tell me how you did the hinge and take a close up pic of it?

Ryark 02-16-2010 12:43 AM

how much would you charge for one of those, well charge a fellow jeep owner :)

yj-genral 02-16-2010 07:47 AM

interested in what you used for the hinge as well, i have heard of using several things but most dont last. only thing i have seen that i thought was worth it was using a hub for brakeless trailer and cutting off the stud plate.

I was thinking of the same thing. TSC carries the parts, but I don't want to spend that kind of cash, and I can't find a screwed up axle anywhere.

Hoosier303 05-28-2010 05:09 PM

what about a matching front?

monkers 05-29-2010 07:46 AM

looks great! what thickness material did you use, and did you cut each piece and weld together or bend what pieces you could to save a weld joint then weld together? very nice job!!
