Fog Lights Multifunction Stalk will not pull out

Hi Everyone!
I recently bought a used 2008 Jeep Wrangler X (woohoo!) which is equipped with the front fog lights. However, I'm having trouble pulling out the multifunction stalk to turn on the fog lights. All other lights; parking, low beams, high beams, interior turn signals, etc are working, I just can't pull the darn thing out! Has anyone had this same issue? Being a used vehicle I suppose it's possible the previous owner may have replaced the stalk with one that is not intended to be used with fog lights, could that be the case? Thanks for the help!

Itll clearly have a mark that its made to pull out and itll only pull out with the parking lights or headlights on....

Also its only the end that pulls out. Its a section less than an inch long.

Thank you. I googled the image of both stalks and it looks like I have the one that does not have the fog light with arrow pointing to pull out. Do you know if this was stock with 2008 wranglers or if the previous owner replaced the stalk and used one without the fog light function?

Both can be stock. Register on moparownersconnect.com and enter your vin itll show you everything the jeep came with....

Mine didnt come with fogs but i got the mopar kit and installed them myself. Complete with stalk. Previous owner may have put them on just for looks or hooked to a different switch somewhere, or it may have the wrong stalk.

Check where the wiring from the lights go.

The fog lights were not stock in 08. The PO probably added them. Did you check to see if he added a switch somewhere else?

My 07 X has stock fog lights. The left stalk pulls out and they work fine - except when you signal for a right turn, which turns them off until the signal switches off.

The stalk is easy to replace and iirc costs like 30 dollars. 3 screws on the lower steering column shroud, t15 torx with a looooong screwdriver, and take the shroud off...one screw holds the stalk on, and the wires..

previous owner probably just got a newer bumper that someone took off and threw it on, are the fogs even hooked up to anything?

It was an option on the base "X" however. It didn't become standard equipment until 09.

Thanks. It's been on my list of things to work on. Do you remember where you found a stalk so cheap?

Omix-Ada Multi-Function Switch | Jeep Parts and Accessories | Quadratec $60 sorry. You also have to add a wiring harness under the tipm and get it flashed by a dealer. Jeepsareus.com has the entire fog light kit with everything and instructions for 130 or so. Sell the light housings on ebay or something. :)
