Where is the best place to buy a new top
Where and what brand are the best value out there in this tough economy for a 94?

Bestop Sailcloth can't be beat.

Find Geoff in one one of these threads and PM him. He works for Besttop, so he's biased toward their products, but IMHO, they make the best tops, so you're good. I have the Besttop sailcloth, and I would agree that it's the best top I've seen for a wrangler, better than the OEM, which as I understand it, is also a besttop product. I've seens ome of the cheaper models they produce, and some of the low end ones really look low end.

Biased? Me? Never! :p

Do you have a soft top now? Can you use the same hardware? You'll save some money if you can re-use the hardware. And that's the only way to get the Sailcloth top these guys are talking about.

If you can reuse the hardware, you need to determine whether it's OEM from Jeep, or aftermarket (from us or someone else). Go here (scroll to bottom) to identify your top and hardware.

If it's factory, you can buy a Replace-A-Top for it. If it's Bestop, we also have replacement skin options. Let me know.

If you need all new hardware, it's obviously more expensive, but then you have more options. You could get a Trektop, a Sunrider, or a Supertop. Or you could decide to save some moolah and go with a less expensive option, like a Pavement Ends.

Narrow your options down a bit, and ask any questions that come up.

I need a tj top also. My 10 year old top just took a header.

See above, then shop on-line. Many of the on-line vendors will not charge tax or shipping, so your real in the door costs are lower than any other retail.

Spend the extra on the best top. It's worth the extra dough last longer and fits better.
That's my 2 cents.

A quick word of support for local vendors: Lots of the local guys are centers of the 4 wheeling communities. They may charge a bit more than the online places, but they offer support - not just for the product you're buying but also for your hobby. They are frequently good guys to get to know. That might be worth a few bucks. Just saying!

You can get a list of Online and Local Vendors at my website at Tops and Accessories for Jeep & GM, Ford, Dodge Trucks by Bestop. It's obviously slanted toward our product, but it's a generally good resource for Jeep vendors.
