Half Doors?

Do you think half doors are worth it. I found a new jeep with half doors & soft top. The pictures make it look cheesy, with the soft top going half way down the door.

I live in SoCali so we get rain like this last week, but mostly nice out.

Are their any drawbacks to half doors.

Thanks

Considering the fact that half doors are hard to come by, take em if you can get em. Half doors are more wind noisy but being a Jeep thats the way it should be anyway so go for them.

I understand the "nostalgia" with half doors..
Either you shop around for the real half doors and might spent a lot of money.. or you go for the tubular ones, which are much cheaper and easy to handle..
I have the Warrior tube doors and love them...

Half doors rock! More elbow room...... and they look cool! :D

I am a new Jeep owner, just bought 2010 unlimited 4x4, with half doors. The only reason I did not get the Sahara is because you cannot get half doors on that model. It is so unique compared to the full door models, and MUCH cooler looking. I do not drive my jeep daily so I wanted something more sporty and that is more open. I have had more comments on the half doors and I am thrilled I got them stock. The main drawback is with the half door windows are plastic so that takes some getting used to, but I have quickly adapted to it. My model is much quieter than I dreamed of so I am also happy with that.

Nice day out? Pull the upper halvs and toss them in back. You can't just fold the whole doors up and stick 'em back there. ;)

I also have found a great priced used JK unlimited but with half doors. I live in PA. Would this be a smart investment for me with the crazy weather we can sometimes encounter up here...mainly with snow and sleet in mind?

I was in the same predicament ... I live in MI and some friends who had half doors advised me NOT to go that route..I have tube doors for the summer and they just do fine, not expensive, very functional and give this same "feel" as driving with half doors..The cost to have full and half OEM doors is way too much and the $$ can be used for a lot of nice mods..Look up my photo albums in my profile and you will see what I have..
Just my humble opinion...and as I stated in an earlier post, I understand the "nostalgia" on this issue..

Thanks for the fast feedback. I found a really nice 2008 unlimited with half doors and only 11,000 miles for $21,500 but I really think that the half doors will be more trouble than what its worth especially with the winters here.

I am actually trying to find some real half doors from a totaled Jeep (front end crash) in my area and across the nation. Lets just say it is pretty much impossible to get a good set of half doors. If it were me I would jump on them asap.

If you want full doors, run an ad locally, and I pretty much guarantee that someone would gladly swap their full doors for your halves.
