Big Bear Lake question

My daughter moved to Carlsbad and was thinking about going camping, some day, at Big Bear lake. Anyone gone there? Reviews, ratings please. Thanks.

Big Bear is wonderful. We wheel there during the summer. It's filled with campsites and hiking trails, wheeling trails, a beautiful lake, and the drive up there once you get out of Riverside.... wow.

Love Big Bear. We plan on camping there as much as possible this summer.

Oh, and you can rent little cabins during the summer. They're pretty cheap considering. I have several guides with maps and trails and campgrounds. She can pick one up at B&N.

Fawnskin is great also. Just on the other side of the lake.

There are several fun places all along the "Rim of the World" Ridge. From Lake Arrowhead thru Big Bear on to Hwy 38 and into Angelas Oaks then to Forest Falls before you get into Mentone at the bottom.

And if you hang out in front of the fire station on Saturday morning you're bound to get invited to wheel with a group meeting there. :D

Just dont expect to camp on the lake, the camp grounds are scattered around the wilderness.Theres one right across the street from the lake.I believe it is serano and make sure to get a reservation. The lake is 99 percent private property around the shore line private homes I was bummed out by that because I like to fish.Float tubing in the summer is real nice but the fishing is never great.Theres a nice camp ground at the base of snow summit that it first come first serve which is in town so you can get all the fast food stuff.Theres a few jeep events up there that are really fun if you can make it just gotta find them and bring 250$.I also like to go in June to the old miner days chili cook off. The motel 6 at the end of the lake is only 50 bucks and isnt too bad.I really like it there I leave my mtn and go over to theirs all the time.
