2.5L Blown Head Gasket
Im a newbie here, so thanks in advance for any advice and information. I am about to replace the head gasket on my new toy, any advice from a vet is greatly appreciated!! Still runs(pretty good actually) but I have the choclate shake in the crankcase. Coolant is clear....but I have to add it frequently.

The problem problably is in a blown head gasket.
Need to replace that. That chocklate shake isn't good for the engine.
I think it isn't hard to change it, but I rather give this job to a experienced car dealer.

Get yourself a Haynes or Chilton repair manual and have at it. Do it sooner than later, that chocolate shake is not doing your bearings, cams, lifters etc any good. Changing the head gasket is not all that hard, takes longer to get all the crap off the that's in the way than the actual head removal.

Get a Chiltons, Clymers or Haynes manual and have fun. Mark everything you disconnect with a tape numbering system so you hook all the doodads back up to the right place. Take some digital photos as you dismantle stuff. The head gasket is probably the easy part. Pay attention to the torque and tightening sequence!!

It's not too hard of a job to do. Before you start tearing things apart, go to your preferred parts dealer and get a head gasket set. You'll probably have to order it, but it's worth it. It'll have all of the gaskets you need plus quite a few that you won't need... and it's cheaper than buying everything individually. It also has new valve stem seals.
After you get the head off, take it to a machine shop. They can shave it down if it's warped, check it for cracks, make sure your valves are seated properly and put in your valve stem seals. Plus it will be all nice and clean when they're done. I had my 2.5's head worked about 2 weeks ago for around 85 bucks. I had it back in two days.
Get everything you need for an oil change and a couple of gallons of antifreeze and your set.
x2 on the chilton's or haynes manual. There's a sequence to torque down your head bolts.
Also, when your refilling your radiator, remove the heater hose thats next to the thermostat housing. It helps eliminate that horrible air bubble in your system. When antifreeze starts to come out of the opening at the thermostat housing, put the heater hose back on and burp your radiator.
I'm sure I've forgotten something....
