I recently discovered that the brake lights on my 93 YJ quit working. I replaced t he switch at the pedal - that didn't seem to fix it. Turn signals, reverse and running lights all work fine, but only my brake lights have quit working. I checked all my fuses, but can't seem to find one that is blown. Any suggestions for where to look next?

check wire continuity in switch pedal wires one is probably either damaged...check lights make sure they are not blown. check fuse labled stop..not park. alot if times the 12v wire works its way away from fuse panel

Thanks for the quick reply! So here's a qustion - and i always want to check the simple things first -but if the lights were blown - wouldn't the turn signals not work - or is that something different in the bulbs?

You're correct that if your signal work on the rear then the bulbs are good. Definitely check for power at the switch and for functionality of the switch. They have been known to be bad out of the box

FIXED! So check this out - I went out and looked at the fuseblock - and the one marked STOP - as you recommended didn't have a fuse in it - which is why I missed it before (as to why, I have NO idea). However, I did notice that it's melted a bit around that fuse - so I'm going to need to get that checked out. Popped a 15a fuse in and voila! My brake lights are working again.
I have NO earthly idea where the fuse went or why it clearly shows some melting - I know my mechanic mentioned it about a month ago but said it didn't appear to have any obvious shorts - maybe it's been out that long... weird.
But it's fixed now. Probably need to replace the block just to be proactive. I'm sure it happened before I bought it a few years ago.

melted...probably from higher amp fuse in block to run other accessories such as lights..etc done people just have no idea

Melted fuses are commonly caused by a bad connection at the fuse holder, corrosion where the fuse plugs in will cause excessive heat melting the fuse it self.
