Installed LED Tails...now blowing Brake fuse

Hi...longtime lurker...first post...need some help please.

I have a 2006 TJ Rubicon. I just installed rear corners and LED flush mount rear tail/brake/turn signal lights and front LED turn/running lights. I also installed the LED relay in the steering column that came with this complete kit from TREKS/TNT in Wyoming.

Everything works fine with the LEDs except the brake light fuse blows as soon as I press the brake pedal...everytime...fuse # 2 behind the glove box.

I find everything wired correct and no shorts....ideas ?

Thanks for any help....

I have almost the same problem but, mine blows the #1 fuse. It is my parking light/ license plate light fuse.

You'll want to retrace all your connections. I've done 3 of these conversions and never had an issue. It's easy to get the wires backwards when you're wiring things up. Make sure the wire connections are intact and no bare wires are exposed and touching.

Here's a good write up from Stu's Site. What ever you do, DO NOT install Resistors in line to make the turn signals flash slower. You're begging for a fire.
ONLY use the approved Electronic Flasher approved for LED tail lights. EP-26(you can get from NAPA or Pep Boys) for 1997-2000 TJ's and GCD-TJ0106 (from Gold Coast Off Road) for 2001 + TJ's.

Yeah...I do not even have a license plate lamp right now. I just cut the wire when I put my corners and tire carrier on. So my plate wire is just hanging there currently. I am going to work on it all tomorrow.

I also have no running lights on the front turn/running LEDs either....but I think I wired them wrong, the turns and hazards work fine....just no running lights.

OK...thanks...I'll do that tomorrow and check the relay to make sure I have the right one. Strange part is that the brake laights worked when I first hooked everything up, but I have no idea for how long.....I mean they worked for a few days at least.

I have brake lights and hazards. I got too frustrated with mine tonight. Blew the same fuse 3 times. Gonna try again tomorrow. This may be stupid but my question is if I have the wires wrong, then why do the turn signals still blink? Anyways good luck

Well iused a test light and found out what wires were what. no more blowing fuses but if you turn on the left signal the right blinks a little and vice versa. So needless to say I'm done messing with mine today.

To crwddyz: did you figure out what was causing your problem?

Any updates?

I added led tails on my 97 tj. I had to ground both sides to make it work properly.
Good luck, and let us know!

For mine, I finally gave up checking grounds making sure wires were in place.
What I did: I ran my wires under my hood and wired the factory lights up so no one could see them. I then just ran my led lights off of the factory lights. This isn't what I wanted but, it works and I guess I can deal with that.
