New to the forum, not new to stock jeeps sorta. Question is , how much space do you have between your bumpstop and axel?
My tj is an 02 sport, pretty much stock except for a 2.25 BB (pucks bumpstop extensions and shocks), aftermarket wheels. it will have 31s shortly. I only have 1.5 maybe 2 inches between the BS and axel. Cant be right as far as I can tell, I think its hitting over moderate bumps. Anyhow since I dont know the shocks, and one is leaking(rear)= new ones on the way, and how hard is it going to be to take out the bumpstop extension.
This is a daily driver, moderate wheeling. Nothing hardcore.

The space between the bump stop & axle should be just slightly less than the space between the top of the tire and the fender flare. That prevents the tire from rubbing the top of the fender well/flare when the tire is stuffed upwards when offroading. Removing a bumpstop extension is easy once you get the spring out. :)

Kinda thought that might be the trick, taking the spring out. hmmm.
but only 1.5 to 2 inches of upward axel travel. Think I could have 4" and not be near any trouble. Thanks

That's impossible to say. Look back at my earlier post, the correct amount of gap between the bump stop & axle is slightly less than the distance between the top of your tire & fender flare. All you have to do is measure that distance to find your answer.

Took alittle bit to get back to ya. 6" from top of the tire to flare.

disconnect the sway bar to drop the axle and then remove the spring, fairly simple. Or use a spring compressor if you have one

Dropped the axel this weekend, at first thought what a bunch of crap, but wanted to get that 2" bumpstop spacer out of there. Not too bad, cept when I broke the bolt off that holds the bumpstop cup in place, broke out the drill. Done deal, threw on some new Moroe Reflex shocks. Holy crap are they nice, world of difference. Learned alot about the Jeep. Thanks to this forum.
