I'm looking at one of these RockNob's to replace my black plastic one, anyone ever bought one of these or know anything about the actual quality? Any help is appreciated.

I have one and I love it!
One word of warning is they are the LAST thing to warm up when its really cold out. It makes for cold hands if you have to shift a lot. thats a horrible picture of one, mine look sway better and is more regular shaped. Ill see if I can find a picture of it. Also I suggest gluing in addition to the little plastic thing that is mean to hold it on. Super glue worked great!

They use real rocks for their knobs, no worries about the quality... nature's rocks are pretty well made. :)

also, I've tried before by hand to turn my knob thats on there (its not facing right direction), and its stuck pretty good. It looks like the previous owner used electric tape on the rod to make it a better fit, but I cant really tell because i have a throttle cable attached right under the knob and there is electrical tape there too to make the bracket fit snug. any ideas to get this knob off? it seems to me that its the stock knob

i have one in my cj and my hubby has on in his commander. they are a good quality shift knob, a bit pricey considering it is a rock, but still very cool. they several different designs to choose from. the only thing you need to remember is that EVERY knob is different b/c they use actual rocks, the shape of the rick in the picture is not necessarily the shape you will get. i like how unique they are, though.

The stock knob is held in place & prevented from being unscrewed by a lock nut that is hidden underneath the shift pattern plate on top. Carefully pry that shift pattern plate up & out of the shift knob with a small flat bladed screwdriver & you will see the big lock nut underneath. Loosen that lock nut and the knob will spin right off. :)

I don't really like the RockNobs but that's just me... I'd rather go with a T-Hurst Handle.. :)

I remember many moons ago I burnt the Poo out of my hand on one of those on a 115deg. day.

I was quite angry

What a sissy. ;) (just kidding) :D Here's my old Rock Kob shifter I picked up at an old ARCA rock crawling championship event 6-7 years ago. This one is different/cool as it's one of the few they made with a Jeep on the top of it.

wow they should for sure start making that again, not to steal from your thunder haha. I'm more worried about how it fits more than anything, and how long it will stay tight on there. but Jerry if you've had that for 6-7 years then that settles it for me

I no longer use that knob since converting to an automatic. I'm thinking I should auction it off on eBay where as rare as it is, it'd probably make some serious coin. :D
