Check Engine Light

ok...So I'm driving my 99 TJ down the highway and I start to feel a slight hesitation. Nothing big really, just a hint of trouble. When I get to the access road red light I look down and I see the "check engine" light is on. When I start to accelerate the jeep lunges forward like it's trying to stall, but then catches itself and keeps moving. If I slowly accelerate I don't have a problem, but if I try to accelerate normally it sputters at 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd gear.
What do I have? And what do I do?

Can someone tell me if they have heard of a Clock Spring causing a shortage and spike thereby causing the Fuel Injector to shut down???

You have to get the code to determine anything. Cycle the key off-on-off-on-off-on and the code should appear in the odometer window. Autozone woll also read the code for free.

When was the last time you did a tune up (spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, ignition coil)?

For some codes the defect has to be present for a longer time. Something is intermittent not long enough for the light to remain on. But it should be stored in memory anyway.

I know this is an old thread but I'm having this exact problem. I had my oil, wires, cap, and plugs changed yesterday and its doing the same thing as described.. I took it back and they are pretty much staring at it and have been looking for codes for an hour.. they also replaced my freeze plugs because they were leaking?
