Superior Super 35 axle kit VS. dana44 swap?
 
So as the title states,Is the Superior Super 35 axle kit at strong at a dana 44? Is it worth the money? will it hold up with the ABR that comesin the axle package?

so yeah Superior Super 35 axle kit VS. dana44 swap, discuss :)

The Super 35 from Superior Axle is a very worthy upgrade, it definitely allows a Dana 35c to be locked with up to 35" size tires without much worry. I swapped my Dana 35c for a Dana 44 but would have no qualms running a Super 35 in really tough terrain.

In fact, the 30 spline hardened alloy shafts that come in a Super 35 kit are slightly stronger than the OE 30 spline shafts used in a Dana 44. Plus the axle tubes used in a TJ D30 and TJ D44 are identical. So other than the R&P gears being smaller in a Dana 35 which is really not a huge deal for 99% of wheelers, there's not much to not like about the Super 35 kit.

If swapping axles is no big deal and you can find a TJ Dana 44, that would be a good way to go but as said already, the Super 35 kit is entirely worthy and it survives in some very rough terrain. I know of several Jeeping friends that wheeled in positively brutal Johnson Valley with Super 35 equipped TJs. They often broke other stuff but not their Super 35 axle shafts. :)

Sweet, thats pretty cool to know, do you happen to know if they run An axle truss? would you say the truss is needed to help support the axle? or would you recommend it?

Superior Axle makes a truss for both the Dana 35 and Dana 44 and a truss can never hurt. But a truss really is designed to strengthen the axle in the direction it would be in during a really steep climb so if you get in that situation much, it could be a good upgrade. I had a truss on my Dana 44 and it was a nice bolt-on product.

ARB Front and Rear on 35" tires "so far so good"

Cool, Im doing a v8 swap and was lookin at getting the superior super 30&super 35 kit with ox lockers front and rear for mine

Im looking to uprgrading to the Super35 kit as well with the Detroit Lockers, the only problem i heard about was that it might be hard to shift with a 5spd manual tranmission and the rear locker. Has anybody experienced hard shifting with this Super35 kit?

How has your success been with the super 35? I'm about to upgrade and a, looking at at a replacing my rear. Did you keep your front axel. What tires and gears are you currently running?

For my understanding: how could this - theoratically - make shifting more difficult....?

The hard shifting that you have heard about most likely resulted from the detroit locker. When I had mine the shift from first to second had to be done gingerly and at a low rpm or you would grind gears.

Funny - in my 99 TJ w/ Super 35, Detroit, 4.88's and a 5 speed, running 35" tires, I never had any issues shifting in any gear. There's no logical reason why/how grinding gears would be associated with what type of locker you had. Syncro's going out in the transmission would be the logical reason for that.
