crazy cost for an oil filter!

i was just looking at random parts and i came across this on 4wd.com

TruFilter Oil Systems and Other Jeep Parts and Jeep Accessories by 4 Wheel Drive Hardware

that is crazy for an oil filter! 180$
has anyone used that before?

JIMBOX 03-11-2010 09:31 AM

 WOW, that looks very efficient and apparantly PROVEN, but

We've been getting over 100K miles out of well maintained and regular changing PAPER ,$5.00 filters, for quite a few years, $180 is a lot of money to pay for a filter

Then you would have to follow their prescribed cleaning instructions--NAW

Just fagetaboutit

:rofl::rofl: JIMBO

Ive also seen magnets that you can just slip over the outside of regular paper filters, they might not be "rare earth magnets" but they werent 180 dollars either...and they are replaceable

Visit your local hardware store, Rare earth magnets aren't really that rare.

I think I'll stick with my 5.00 filters. :D

That's unbelievable.

"Trufilter Oil Systems is a revolutionary design that provides for 100% filtration through duplex woven, deep pleated 45 micron surgical stainless steel filter media."

I kinda like the old oil filters that let oil through.

I use K & N oil filters on my farm truck I KNOW WHY A EXPENSIVE FILTER FOR A FARM TRUCK?
It was an experiment and it brought the oil pressure back up and seems to run better............ truck has over 240,000 and has been in my family since new and is just a little tired.
Sorry if it was off subject just thought I wold throw that out there.

If you you had a big time custom motor I bet the $180 is worth it. But for my 4 banger Jeep motor any clean filter will do.
