Well drug my pore TJ back from the dealer. The front axle is trashed. The barrings are flat, and it spun races. So I need to change the hole front axle. As I am not on a tight leash in the $ department what are my options? Meaning what front axles will fit? It has the 4.10 gears. I found a Comanche front axle with 4.10s and some one told me it would fit. But I am not sure. Only found one Wrangler front axle in the salvage yards around hear and they wanted $1,200! Thanks for any input!

Comanchee and Cherokees share the same front axle as TJ's. So yes, the sway would fit. The only issue is that some had a Center Axle Disconnect that TJ's never did meaning that the passenger side shaft is a 2-piece.
Why do you have to replace the whole axle if just the bearings are shot? Why not just rebuild it, and toss in some better shafts or gears while you're at it?

Can't rebuild mine. The bearings welded and spun the races in the housing. So there is no way of putting in new races. Just my luck! Any way to tell if the axles have the center disconnect by looking at them?

On the passenger side of the axle tube there would be a vacuum line and box next to the lower control arm mount.
You should look for a high pinion cherokee axle. It will bolt in place but you will probably need a gear change. Look for one with the gear set you want for the size tires you have and regear the rear to match!

Thanks for the info and pic! Found a high pinion Cherokee axle. So I would have to have it changed over to 4.10 if I go that direction. Do you need to change anything on the drive shaft for the high pinion axles? Thanks!
