Stock center console lock

I cannot find any replacements for my broken lock latch on my center console. Does anyone know of anywhere i can find one besides the dealer? someone should make one out of metal instead of the cheap plastic ones. what is the point of a plastic lock? seriously!

Oh yeah and p.s. Its my first post here. Im new! but not jeep retarded. I have owned 2 xj's in the past but I cannot believe it took me this long to get a TJ! by far my favorite JEEP! Hello Everyone!!

Welcome aboard.

you might try Daveysjeeps.com

I'm not sure how to get it re-keyed to your jeep though...

But doesn't the lock cylinder come apart from the actual lock latch?

on mine it appears to be one piece (of crap)....but I dunno if that changed through the years.

I didn't look at it in great detail. I had to work on mine as it had too much play in it. but IIRC it was one piece.

My dad had thesame thing happen to his 03 wrangler. he went to the local lock smith and was able to get one for about $25.00 and it was rekeyed there to match his keys he already had.

I thought for sure someone would have designed an all metal one. I cant afford a 400 dollar tuffy right now. I just looked and it is one piece.... gay.

I know, when I lock things I dont want walking off I put them in the glovebox because thats much more secure than the flimsy center console one, if someone wants my gum and spare change out of there its all theres. Obviously the keys wouldnt match but you could get one from a junkyard and use that key, or if it was an issue get it re-keyed for your key

I removed mine since the key kept getting stuck and now i left it removed. It is not secure but nothing really valuable in there.

Point being is that they are removable. I just fished it out and it came out. Maybe because it was already broken? Don't know.

As to where to get one with matching keys, couldn't tell ya. Have to be a custom locksmith job.

Welcome to the board!

Well I just found my resolution after i searched good and hard. Tuffy offers an insert that goes in and is secure with its own lock and key for 150 bucks. I am so getting it. thanks guys.
