Flat Fenders TJ

What brand and style tube fenders is everyone running? Likes Dislikes, ease of installation, pics would be great. I am undecided on which ones to get....Thanks

Bigstonz 03-28-2010 02:15 PM

I read about some nice, cheap (like$140!), flat, flexible, minimalist fender flairs a couple weeks ago. They required some sheet metal work, but looked pretty good. Jerry Bransford might have been showing them off? They don't cover the tires well, but I would suggest doing a quick search for them

cavediverjc 03-28-2010 03:21 PM

Here's the link that Jerry posted.

Modern Classic Enterprises

Bigstonz 03-28-2010 04:35 PM

That's them. If I ever decide to run 35s, I'll go with these. Thanks for the link

jtalar 03-28-2010 09:39 PM

I saw those when Jerry first posted them, I would like the actual metal flat tube fenders. 4Wheel parts owes me some cash and I can get which ever ones i want on them, installation and all. I heard the Genrights are good, any feedback?

AzTJ 03-28-2010 10:03 PM

The GenRights are what I want to eventually get for my TJ. Very solid and beefy. Seen a couple sets installed on some TJ's. Very nice.

jtalar 03-28-2010 10:06 PM

AzTJ, do you want the ones with the flare or without(boulder stlye)

cavediverjc 03-28-2010 10:10 PM

No flares.

No flare.

cavediverjc 03-28-2010 10:21 PM

Flares on flat fenders look goofy. :D

schnutzy 03-28-2010 10:24 PM

slightly off topic, but Az, are you gona go with a higher lift, or the high clearance tub fenders from genright?

jtalar 03-28-2010 10:25 PM

Hahahahahaha, I guess sky's the limit since I don't have tp pay for them

Higher lift. Need the clearance for large rocks around these parts (If I'm staying)... no belly draggers, as much as I like the look.

So how much they owe you? You getting just the fronts done? Painted to match I hope.

or, maybe a combination of both. high clearance fenders, put 4.5 inche springs in, a 1 inch BL and a high clearance skid plate. be kinda a mix of a LCG rig and something to clear high rocks. but then again im weird, so of course im going to think that is a good idea

better yet, high clearance fenders anyways just so you have more room to stuff them 37s(i think i herd u wanted 37s..........)

jtalar 03-28-2010 11:23 PM

Let's just say that they owe me alot, they didn't give me a dollar amount, but will do pretty much anything to make me happy, they screwed me big. My TJ is silver so I think i will keep them black, who knows maybe paint to match later, I have a friend who is a painter and will do them for a case

AzTJ 03-28-2010 11:30 PM

Huh. Yeah, take them to the bank. lol

jdhallissey 03-28-2010 11:40 PM

Well depending on how much -- Go get a set of rock jock 60's from them and install them yourself :). They are truly a straight bolt in app. If they do get them for you and your not comfy in installing them, how bout you meet me in moab pay gas one way ---250 bucks and I will put them in down there without air tools :)

jtalar 03-28-2010 11:48 PM

Where can you buy them jd?

AzTJ 03-28-2010 11:52 PM

4 Wheel Parts has RocJoc's on their site. :D Configured as you wish.

jdhallissey 03-28-2010 11:54 PM

^ correct hehe!!!

This is getting cruel but they screwed you I dunno how bad but by the sounds of it they OWE you two new axles :D. I am more then up for a moab run right now!!!!!!

jtalar 03-29-2010 12:08 AM

Me and a friend are planning a moab trek, not sure when, maybe in the fall, funny, I just bought a brand new rear end from them which is screwed, and they jacked up my front, which I have in writing 100% warranty for life if anything happens to it, i get a new one. I think I will go with the Boulder style Genrights with the stealth light kit, and have them throw in a set of lightforce lights

cstegner 03-29-2010 09:42 AM

Found this nice thread on the MCE fenders install and some more pics then what they have on their site. I know a lot of you don't like any flare, but I wish they had a version with just a little bit of flare.

I think I'm still sold on the TNT Gen2s that are completely bolt on. But definitely kicking the thought of these MCEs around for the weight and most importantly cost difference.

Do you have any pics of the TNT Gen2's? Or do I have to look them up my lazy self? LOL....... :D

EDIT: Nevermind. I looked them up. Their Gen2 Phantom fenders look like what I'm wanting.

I was doing more looking today, and I remembered the TNT (GoTreks) fenders... I do like them a lot, especially because of the added room behind the wheel (towards firewall). The Phantoms are nice, but I think the 3" fenders are the ones I want. Sorry Gen-Right, you'll get some of my money for something else. :D

aghostinside 04-08-2010 09:52 AM

I'm running gen-rights on mine. I have the 4" flare cause it's my daily driver. It helps keep the mud and crap off the window a little. I like them but, I'd like to go with metal cloak some day though.

cstegner 04-08-2010 10:16 AM

The Metal Cloaks are pretty sexy, especially if you got the rocker guards from them too.

snwchris 04-08-2010 11:05 AM

TNT Hy-Lines.... 40's with 4" lift... or 37's with no lift to 2" lift

jdhallissey 04-08-2010 11:36 AM

I was looking at TNT ut they look nothing more then genrights or rokmens but 150 bucks more! I dunno why tho. If there is a reason then cool I can justify it but I can't see the deference.

snwchris 04-08-2010 11:58 AM

Probably cause the TNT's are more of a direct replacement, with only a little fab work needed for misc brackets.

Gen-Right & Rokmens require more fab work in order to fit up and work.

Also there's Tfab or Trent Fab that does Hi-Fenders as well. It's all in what people are looking to gain and go for as well.

I'm leaning towards the TNT Hy-Line Fronts and their Extended Rear corners, that are extended by 2-3" for tire clearance. I already have Poison Spyder Tube Fenders so the corners will be next.
