I have to ask

Ok, as a newbie.... Why is it so many people don't wave?

I notice it more as I get closer to the city when I commute for work.

renegadewarrior 03-30-2010 12:53 PM

They're too busy putting make-up on and sending texts to see what's going on around them:mad:
I always wave and if they don't wave back my wave turns into the one fingered salute, maybe that will get their attention:flipoff:

PTaylor 03-30-2010 01:06 PM

I've noticed that newer owners or younger kids are the ones not waving. Me thinks most do not know of the "Jeep wave". some simply don't care.

VolForce 03-30-2010 01:20 PM

You are correct....honk and wave....educate them.....ha ha!

G-Pur 03-30-2010 02:24 PM

If they don't wave back, it's ok. You were really only waving to the Jeep.

bergy 03-30-2010 08:51 PM

i have noticed it a lot more when i go to city too... when i am in southern wisconsin everyone waves but when i cross the border to dubuque Iowa for work i get almost no waves especially from new/clean Jeeps... its a sad story and hopefully they catch on or sell there Jeep to someone who will understand

frankenbury 03-30-2010 08:56 PM

There are a bunch of jeep owners in my small town. Almost all of them return waves except for this one guy with a 4 door JK but I still wave to his Jeep lol. When I drive to work in the city I still get waves except for the folks that are putting on their make up or playing with the phone especially if I honk :P

RatherBNarizona 03-30-2010 09:15 PM

they are on their way to the mall

Vaultzz 03-30-2010 09:23 PM

Everyone waves in my town except this old guy in a little stock YJ with a hardtop on all year

McGridDLe 03-30-2010 10:06 PM

everybody around here waves too, occasionally someone just doesn't notice though lol

The Vette is almost 100% :punk:

I get most of my waves returned... but I will admit, sometimes I just don't pay attention to what cars are coming head on. But when I notice too late, I always feel bad.

Lol, good point! I'll have to keep that in mind when people don't wave back. I'm in the southwest VA/northeast TN region, and no one ever waves. I never had a wave returned in my KJ the whole time I had it. :( I've had my TJ for ten days now (:D), and I've only had one wave returned in about 500 miles of driving. :9lame: I guess people around here don't know about the Jeep wave? Or maybe my stock TJ isn't worthy? (I can't help it being stock; I'm a poor college student!) I always wave to all the Jeeps I pass, no matter what model it is or who's driving!

I have noticed this as well.

aenima540 03-30-2010 11:41 PM

I'm seventeen, I wave at EVERY SINGLE jeep i see, well, all wranglers and cherokee's not the newer version like grand cherokees liberty's ect.. unless they're modded... but I have noticed lately not getting any waves back, is it because they see i'm a younger kid and don't respect me or what? I'm just trying to be friendly with my fellow jeepers, i'm in love with mine and i'm sure they all are too :(

01bud 03-30-2010 11:48 PM

its a "wrangler" wave.not so much a "jeep" wave.:wavey:

It's true... I wave at Jeeps parked in dealerships too :)
yeah... I know... but it's fun heh.

sonofabeach 03-31-2010 12:49 AM

These are the same people who never take the top or doors down.

ImWhisper 03-31-2010 01:09 AM

Funny - early Nitro folks wave or peace sign too. But over the last few years I have noticed not so much. I will be driving my husband's Tundra and will wave at Nitros lol!
I look forward to doing the Wrangler wave!

Lol, that's cool, ryt.
I'm definitely going to start waving to parked/unoccupied Jeeps. I saw my TJ's twin in a parking lot the other day, and I was sad that there was no one in it to wave to.

Wrangler22602 03-31-2010 07:22 AM

Thanks for all the responses. In the Shenandoah valley I get the waves, but the closer to N/Va and DC I get less and less responses. I'll keep waving to the jeep.

daggo66 03-31-2010 09:16 AM

Ah, ya gotta love a stealth wave thread.
