do not buy from planet jeep on eBay

Hey everybody, I am new on JU, but I have been on JF for a while now. I recently bought a bumper from planet jeep on eBay and the whole situation has been horrible. So- please- everyone just avoid planet jeep on eBay. I'm trying to help out other jeepers. Please help me get the word out- I am doing this to prevent others from buying his crap because when I got it, I was :firedevil:

Heres what happened- I've been looking for a RRC front bumper grille guard so I got on eBay and was looking around and I found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6397&viewitem= and it appeared to be a good deal. It was advertised as a RRC product so I thought I would be all good to go. Well I paid, got my bumper, opened it up and looked at it and almost cried. I don't know who welded it and thought "yeah, this looks right" but it was totally wrong. I don't think I can post pics yet, but the bottom line is- he is selling knock-off crap and you shouldn't buy from him unless you want him to take your money and leave you empty-handed.

The rest of the story is here...

Good luck with the resolution.

Ebay/paypal are generally pretty good at getting your money back.

looks like he dropped that listing, but here is another one of his
New Jeep Wrangler TJ YJ 1987-06 RRC Bumper Grille Guard : eBay Motors (item 200458698901 end time Apr-13-10 14:32:53 PDT)

he advertises it as an RRC but it is indeed genuine crap and not RRC at all. I personally spoke with someone at RRC and they confirmed that it wasn't theirs.

sorry, i guess i forgot to leave the link to my JF post on the topic. my apologies.

wolfen 04-13-2010 04:59 PM

Man I just saw the pics you posted on the other forum. I can do better than that with the scrap galvanized junk we throw away at work. it looks like the end cap in that one pic isn't even welded on, and that pos is as square as a circle.

It seem its not the first to get problem with planet Jeep..

Funny that you should post this on here. About 4 months ago I had a pretty rough encounter with them. They promised to replace pieces, after a month and a missing fender flare, i finally just sent them a payment for the flare they promised to replace for free. I got quite a few bull sh.. stories about how they were discontinued etc. Keep in mind that that his Dealer for the parts is also on eBay. truckpart4less is his name. They sell a very low quality product and they are simply put, scam artists.

Vanimal00000 04-13-2010 11:25 PM

thanks for the warning!

kswyg001 04-14-2010 11:23 AM

i'm just trying to get the word out so other people dont have to go thru this crazy dance just to get a bumper or whatever else he sells. the bumper is supposed to be picked up today or tomorrow and then hopefully paypal will send my money back pretty quickly so i can buy the real RRC bumper.

blkrubi88 04-14-2010 11:38 AM

Good luck with getting your money back, keep us updated!

Good Luck.
I stop using ebay very long time ago.
Know I got everyrthing from craigslist, local 4x4 Store or a reputable online retailer.

white91yj 04-14-2010 12:01 PM

well.. 1400 + feedbacks and 40 not's isnt really bad for the volume they're moving. But I understand your gripe. I got a f/g hood scoop in from Speedway motors a couple of years ago for my vette that was cracked because of crappy packing. Thats usually where damages happen.

Hotwire 04-14-2010 04:49 PM

Where is Planet Jeep based out of?

whiteyj 04-14-2010 04:59 PM

Interesting that you're having the problem....planet_jeep has some 12,200 transactions on ebay and a 98.8% positive feedback rating. 0 negative in the last month and 8 in the past 6 months. Sure sounds like a reputable seller?

Good luck with the resolution.

Hey man Google BMG metal out in Ches and see how much they would sell you the parts to build a bumper for, and build your own :) I bought a OEM rear bumper from Hall Jeep but if I ever change the front I'm building my own.

if you look at the pictures, there is no way that shipping caused this

he makes deals with people to remove the negative feedback and thats how he draws more buyers in. if everyone who got screwed by him left negative feedback then he would not be selling anymore

i can weld, but it's not so good :( i would rather buy one that is all set up and ready to go. i am even thinking about going to OpenAirJeeps out in VaBeach because they sell this stuff and i think they may do fab work too.

still waiting on paypal to give me my money. the package is supposed to be picked up today and then we wait.....but it wont get to cali before his timeline is up so paypal may force him to give me my money back before he actually receives the bumper.

mrcarcrazy 04-15-2010 10:11 AM

Once you get your money, leave neg. feedback, or neutral at best....

I don't ever buy from anyone w/ less than 99% pos. as a general rule. I try to stick with 99.9% or higher, and I've had great luck.

Sometimes you have to pay a bit more, but at least the risk is smaller.

kswyg001 04-15-2010 07:33 PM

i'm gonna go and leave a feedback response comment and it's not gonna be very nice at all. he was supposed to have fedex pick it up today but they never showed, so maybe tomorrow.

Yea I don;t do all that good with my little wirefed mig fluxcore either, but I do a lot of welding at work and one thing I have learned, a grinder is a welders best friend :)
I gotta check out Open Air, I haven['t been in their store yet, hell I didn't even know they had one in Va Beach

kswyg001 04-16-2010 10:07 PM

yep, when i was looking for the RRC bumper i stumbled across one for sale in va beach and i looked into it a little deeper and i found out about open air.

he still hasnt picked up the bumper...... to say the least- i am not pleased.

ratuna 04-16-2010 10:52 PM

every other day i report both of his bumpers as counterfeit. i appreciate the help, we really need to get him off of eBay because he is just scamming people and it's just not right.

kswyg001 04-21-2010 12:06 PM

so here is the update- paypal granted my claim and now i just have to ship the crap back to him. paypal has pulled thru for me!!

kswyg001 04-23-2010 11:46 AM

i got it shipped off yesterday and it'll be there on the 28th! he charged me $47 for shipping but it cost me $150 to ship it back which paypal is supposed to reimburse me.

so looking at this objectively- if you start with his $250 price tag and remove $150 for shipping, that leaves $100 for materials and labor. that would explain why the bumper was crooked as could be. i cant wait for this to be over.

i'll keep ya updated guys and gals

kswyg001 04-26-2010 12:22 PM

so here is the tracking number if you are chomping at the bit like i am to get more info on it. 760450060407762 thru fedex
