I have a TJ, Ive been in a few Wranglers where when you move the seat forward it lifts up a little and then moves forward, any idea what the brackets are called and where I can get them?
*Sorry if this is in the wrong category, I'm new to the whole forum thing!
It's called fold and tumble. What year do you have and which seat is or is not doing it? There is a cable inside 97-02 seats that has been known to brake. The passenger seats are supposed to do it. There have been a lot of posts about the drivers seat and so do and some don't. No one seems to have it straight what models, years and options have fold/tumble drivers seats.
You picked the right section. No worries.
Neil is correct with the info he posted. Common issue. The cables just break sometimes, it happens. But..easy fix. You'll have to pick the new cable(s) up from the dealer. Any Dodge/chryler/jeep dealer can get them. BUT...to help you out...find which cable is broken first. There will be two cable in each seat. They are different and different lengths. The most common on that brakes is the one in the lower seat. If you remove the broken one and take it to the dealer you'll be better off at getting the correct cable.
To remove install....
Remove the seat from the jeep....3 bolts and one torx bolt.
Unzip the seat padding cover and locate the cable. "hint..do the bottom one first//locate the cable by the lever under the seat that releases it from the trac".
Easy job. If you have anymore questions let us know.
PS..the cables are anywhere from $45 to $90 each at the dealer "only place i've ever found them".
If you don't want to mess with replacing the cable...well there is a lever under the seat that will preform the same function. Just reach under the seat and it is located on the track. ......."also...not all Jeeps came with the seat that folds/tumbles".
