best air filter?

well its time for me to get a new ir filter and I want to know what the best kind to get is. My buddy and I some what made our own intake to put on it.

I know or at least heard that K&N isnt the best for a jeep and that people have had problems with it. Any input would be nice!

Thanks guys

OEM paper or Amsoil

No power will be gained from an aftermarket filter/intake....and paper/amsoil filter better than any of the "high performance filters".

Oem !

AC-Delco consistently comes in first for filtration in the filter tests I have seen but if I couldn't find an AC-Delco, I'd also run a Purolator and be just as happy. The OE air filter is right up there with the AC-Delco. The very LAST air filter I'd ever buy again is a K&N, they are little better than a screen to keep the small pebbles out.

I keep my jeep out at my desert place and 80% of driving is offroad. I have the stock paper filter. My question is how often do you think I should change it. I know I could just look at it periodically but that's kind of a hassle. And at 20 bucks a pop I don't wan't to overdue it. What do you guys think?

I'm no air filter expert Pokey but if after banging my air filter on the ground a few times it still looks dirty, I swap a new one in. I wheel in the desert too and the dust out there can clog an air filter in a day at times. :)
