Body Lifts with Motor Mount Lifts

Hey guys,

I just received my new BL and MML by JKS. I will be installing them this weekend but had a few questions concerning the two.

First, since I am installing both the BL and MML together, I probably will not have to move the fan shroud, at least this is my understanding. Is this correct?

Second, with the body lift it comes with a t-case linkage drop plate. Is it right that I will not have to use this since I will have the motor mount lift and no transfercase spacers?

Just trying to clear a few questions up so I dont get stuck having to do things twice. Thanks for any input guys. It is appreciated. Pics to come :)

Do you need to do the MML if you do a BL?

Indy 04-20-2010 06:47 PM

1. You will have to remove the fan shroud while you install BL first and then MML. You do not have to move it. It will go in the same place after you are done with BL and MML.

2. You will have to use that bracket because you are not lifting the TC. You are lifting the Body and Motor. Lifting the Motor does not lift the TC enough (it just tilts it little bit for better drive shaft angle) I installed 1.25 BL with 1 MLL and had to install that bracket.

From what Ive read I do not think it is a must. I think with it, you do not have to modify the fan shroud. Thats what I am looking for an answer to :)

No, MML is an alternative and preferred over TC drop.

BL is REQUIRED for MML though ;)

did you drop the transfer case when you did your suspension lift though? Unless I was reading the instructions wrong, it says you do not need to install the bracket if you have not dropped your transfer case and you are installing a motor mount lift.

I guess you can try it. I had to install it even without TC drop. I have 3.25 suspension lift, 1.25 BL and 1 MML.

So you have a mml, bl, 3.25" suspension and no transfer case drop? any vibrations? no sye? Im just woundering because I have the rc 3.25" lift, and Id like to get rid of my transfer case drop.

No, a body lift is not required with a MML, you have to alter the fan shroud however. And no you do not have to remove the fan shroud if you're installing the BL and MML at the same time. Did it myself, didn't touch the shroud.

If you install both a MML and BL...there is NO need to touch the fanshroud. NONE

Not always...even with the MML you still may need to use the linkage adapter...will simply depend on your jeep ...there are some that still need to use the linkage plate that is supplied with the JKS kit..

Just trying to clear a few questions up so I dont get stuck having to do things twice. Thanks for any input guys. It is appreciated. Pics to come :)

As for the linkage plate supplied with the kit...wait to install it. Get everything put together and check the linkage posistion before installing the plate. If you have issues with shifter working correctly then you can then determine if you can fix it by adjusting the set screw on the linkage or if the plate will need to be installed.

Install really is not hard at all bud. It you get stuck let us know.

Hints....
1...install the MML first.
2. when installing the MML, depending on the year of your jeep/and if you have A/C. ....on the passager side motor mount you may need to remove the mount from the engine...""the mount bushing bolt hits the A/C and you cant get it out.""" much easier to just take the whole mount off of the engine block.
3...installing the BL...there are plenty of write ups on installing a JKS bl...read over them.

If you need a link to a write up let us know.

Also neither the MML or the BL has to be used in conjunction with the other.

Just a BL.....you will have to relocate the fan shroud. Most common and better way is to drill holes and rebolt it higher on the radiator ""height drilled will depend on height of bl"

Just a MML...you will need to also relocate the fan shroud higher...and or clearance the shroud by making a cut out in the top of the shroud to accomidate the fan blades.

Thanks for the input guys. It seems like a pretty straight forward project, I was just a little confused on those two parts concerning the linkage bracket and the fan shroud, but it looks like Ive got my answers now. I will let you all know how it goes :)

Cons Table, did you install the BL and MML yet? I'm planning on doing the same thing weekend, Daystar products though but still virtually the same install. I was also curious about the transfer case bracket and if it's needed. Looks like I'll just complete everything and see how it is. Putting the Banks exhaust on too, should be fun.

Ya I did it last weekend, and it went super smooth. The MML was the hardest part, only cuz I had trouble getting one of the bolts to line up...just had to keep playing with the jack but finally got it. Other than that it was very simple. As far as the linkage bracket, I did not use it. I didnt have a TC drop kit in but I had the MML so I didnt need it.
