Another wont start thread.

I hate asking for help on a fourm but I'm at wits end.

Subject is a '91 wrangler 2.5l.

My tank got siphoned, ran out of gas. After getting gas the jeep hasen't started since.

Im now not getting a spark. I've replaced the ignition coil with a known good one. Checked the battery and alternator, the alternator is bad, but that shouldnt inhibit the spark. I am getting a signal from the ECM, 11 with the ignition on and 12+ while cranking.

The fuel system seems to be working correctly. Pump primes when ignition is turned on. Fuel sprays from return when disconnected. Has pressure on the rail when pressing the relief valve.

I'm getting a few codes: 12, 33, 41 and 54. 12 and 33 are gimmies. 41 I'm assuming because of the bad alternator. 54 bugs me, the site I'm using says it only applies to the '84 turbo models.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I'm about to add to the Hawaii man made reefs.

Mine did that. I had to put gas directly into my carb..scared the heck out of me cause I jumped about a foot when we tried to start it, figured it would blow up ha ha.. with the spark issue I replaced the battery and starter and rewired my coil and it started. I replaced the battery cables as well. I couldnt figure out what the heck was going on ..wound up being the battery cable was slightly frayed close to where it blugs directly to the jeep. hell not sure what it is called but it had stuff plugged in..sory not mechanical at all just enough to be dangerous!!

little gas in carb, run it.

this may go on for awhile as there is probably air in the fuel lines...

Although I am not a pro mechanic, I would suggest taking a look at your crank sensor. Please let us know if you find a resolution. Good luck!

As much as I'd love to just keep thowing gas into a carb, the 91 is fuel injected lol

I'm prolly gonna start with the cam sensor, my chiltons manuel (garbage btw) dosent seem to have a crank sensor for any jeep. Could someone tell me where its located?

if you take off the air cleaner, you can shoot starting fluid directly into the tb

yeah, my idea was more for priming the fuel system. With FI you can turn the key off and on for a few seconds at a time until the pump kicks on enough times to fill the lines back up.

Not getting spark is a whole other ball of wax, is there a chance that maybe it did'nt run out of gas and loosing spark really shut 'er down???

Check all your cables first. Even a loose battery cable end can ruin your day...

Bit of an update. Finally found a CPS on island, still didnt make a differance. While I was at it I pulled off all the grounds I could find and polished them up a bit. I was unable to check the spark due to being a one man operation today. I'm not really sure what else to look into. Anyone else got a wild idea?
