unsure of engine swap

hi all i'm a newbie here and i need some help. I own a 91 yj with a beat 2.5l, but my cousin recently gave me a 4.2 with a three speed transmission. He is also giving me all of the wiring, but he is keeping the driveshafts and a few other things. I would love the extra power of the 6 cylinder but i'm unsure as to whether it will match up anywhere close. Do you think i will need a different driveshaft from my stock one? Keep in mind the 4.2 is out of a CJ (79). I would love to do this swap so any help is appreciated

driveshafts are not the same, neither are the motor mounts. it will require cutting and rewelding for motor mounts.

i was worried about the mounts too, thanks for the input. would it be extremely difficult to find replacement driveshafts or would i have to have one custom made. I also assume there would be no way to pair my 5 speed with the 4.2

check your local junkyard for the driveshafts

driveshafts would not be hard, but thats a big negative on the ax5 trans to the 4.2 driveline.

Your trans(ax-5) is gonna be too weak for a 6 cly.

well thats fine, i didnt think i would be able to. Maybe while i'm out looking for driveshafts i can find a 5 speed that would match up, otherwise i'll still be happy with the 3 speed. If it ends up being too much of a bother i'll just have the 2.5 rebuilt.
