Is it Rust? Dirt? What is this and where did it come from

Ok I noticed the other day that there was brown droplets in the door jam area... I looked and they actually come into the jeep as well and I can't figure out where from its happening on both sides and goes clear to the interior door cladding....
Any thoughts????

not rust. looks like its on the black plastic parts as well. just looks like dried droplets. they dont wipe off easliy?

Sf_Kilo 05-10-2010 04:20 PM

They wipe off fine but where did they come from??????
There isn't any evidence on the seals of a leak....
Its in the exact place on both sides????
They don't really taste like rust but there isn't much to taste there:D

Sf_Kilo 05-10-2010 04:25 PM

They aren't really a big deal..... I am just curious cause its the same on both sides ......

sevenservices 05-10-2010 04:32 PM

yeah, looks to me like it dripped off something? Or spattered when the door was shut...

sevenservices 05-10-2010 04:39 PM

I know what it might be... my car used to do that when water would get down into the door handle cup area, it would rust on top of a screw then when you shut the door it would fly everywhere. Check down inside any resevoirs that water could collect.

Some type of pollen maybe?

I sneezed last week and found a booger on my shifter today. Maybe you did something similar?

wrangler0 05-10-2010 07:11 PM

It's your morning hot beverage you spilled while entering the Jeep....

On both sides in the same place ...... Yes I flung coffee allover in a fit or rage

Anyway

As for it collecting on a screw or similar.... nope no water on any screws or the like it just appeared from nowhere......

Not sure how it got there but I will clean and wait for reappearance....

JIMBOX 05-10-2010 10:46 PM

 Could be a little leak (rain) in the tub seal and you parked it with the assend a little higher than the front, dripped down and splashed when you closed the doors !!

:rofl::rofl: JIMBO

nick50471 05-10-2010 10:53 PM

That is flux capacitor fluid. You need to get rid of that Jeep immediately. I'll give you $25 for it.

JIMBOX 05-11-2010 10:24 AM

Its a soft top........ Sorry Jim I should have said that upfront:redface:
Does it still happen with soft tops???
I double and triple checked I even taped paper towels at every seal to check for a leak of any kind....

JIMBOX 05-11-2010 10:35 AM

 I don't have a soft top, but I've read this same problem happens on the rear window/gate seal and the water runs either way, depending on what angle you park at, then either down to the cargo area or, down the tub upper edge (like yours) !!

Usually it's in the way you install the soft top !!

:flipoff::flipoff::flipoff:NO MY JEEP GET YOUR OWN:p:p:p

sevenservices 05-11-2010 11:28 AM

is it splattering off the door post (part that the latch hooks to when you close the door)??? Those will get the paint wore off and sometimes are not even painted. Open your door and check that post... just an idea...
