G2 D44 Rear axle

All, I have one of the G2 D44 rear axles coming to me and I am wondering, does anyone know what kind of brakes I can put on the axle. Does anyone know what the pattern is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you want disc or drum?(guess rear but of course if front.. then swap over your dana 30 parts) What does g2 offer and who from, them or aftermarket?

It is the rear, and would love to have disc.

You can buy those Ford Explorer disc brake conversion kits from most of the catalogs, right? The G2 axle maintains OEM dimensions so far as I know, so one of those kits should work, even though they cost something like $600.

Not to gloat, but it makes me glad that I went with a disc brake Ford 8.8" axle to replace my OEM D44.

Man for a few bucks more you could of got the G2 Dana 60 rear!! I might of gone that route, the 44 is strong but still pushing it on 37's and bigger.

OK, so I am still not sure what the answer is. If I walk into an auto parts store, what pieces am I looking for to get the brakes set up?

Also, I got a smoking deal on this axle, trust me, I looked at the 60 but I could not pass up the deal on the 44. Also I don't plan on going any larger than 35's at this time. If I go larger, I have some other plans, like a whole new rig. :D

I just ordered the same axle two days ago and just got told it was on back order until the end of the month. Where did you get the deal if you don't mind me asking? PM if you want.

According to Quadratec the brakes off your stock axles will work on the G2 D-44 axle front or rear.

tazmann910 05-13-2010 10:42 PM

What stock axle...D35 or 44? that is where the confusion comes in.

tmbrdr69 05-14-2010 08:35 PM

The front G2 D-44 is compatible with the front disc brakes off your D-30 and the G2 D-44 rear end is compatible with the rear drum brakes off your D-35. This is advertised in Quadratec, however I also checked their website and was able to confirm the information. Below are the hyperlinks that will take you to the respective pages regarding the front and rear D-44s. This is a change I am considering and the first question I had is what about the brakes. Thankfully all the equipment is compatible.
