Shipping

Hi Metal Cloak, when are you guys going to offer discounted/free shipping? I have a long list of stuff I would like to pull the trigger on, that would put me there.

BlackedOutYJ 02-10-2014 11:47 AM

X2 ready for some overline fenders, but that shipping is killer.

Sinister6 02-10-2014 11:53 AM

I've noticed major holidays. Maybe they'll have a Valentines Day sale so we can show our significant other some love! :D

Ted_D 02-12-2014 08:13 PM

How about some discounted shipping to Alaska?

$370 to ship a set of rock rails
$706 to ship a set of corner guards

$1037 for both :(

Ted_D 02-12-2014 08:21 PM

The shipping is silly $278. I've had bigger heavier components shipped cross country for less. I can get an RK X Factor shipped free with a 10% discount. Will be pressing the button this weekend. Looks like they'll lose my business.

Nice marketing, but your shipping costs obscene.

I agree. I'm shopping for control arms, but the shipping for theirs makes it crazy to go that direction.

BlackedOutYJ 02-15-2014 06:07 PM

And I don't understand it, usually big company's that ship stuff like this have contracts with postal carriers for better prices.

Maybe their having one big party on their customers. I can't see anyone buying their stuff at these prices. No one replies to inquiries and silly shipping costs... I'm going to RK, don't think these guys are a stable company.

For what it is worth, they were responsive to me via email with my questions with their compatibility with my setup.

I'm wanting to drop a bunch of money with MC, but not willing to do so until they have free shipping. There is a person in my area who is of the same mentality. I'm wanting to go to Moab in April, but not willing to do so in stock fenders as they will just rip off. If MC doesn't come thru in the next week or two, I will probably go another direction.

What other direction are you considering?
Just curious cuz I'm in the same boat. I want to hit the complete order button but the shipping charge is stopping me! I want this stuff so bad too!

my996duc1 02-18-2014 05:56 PM

has anyone tried calling them and talking to them ??

when I ordered mine I called and worked out a better deal on shipping.

I also got a discount on my parts since I was buying front and rear fenders and the rock rails all at the same time.

00TJSport 02-18-2014 06:16 PM

I ordered my full set of control arms today. I mentioned to them that the shipping cost was way high the other day. He told me to remove everything in the shopping cart and do it again. The shipping was cut in half. They said the had a glitch in their system recently which made things wacky.

Genright was the other option I'm considering.

I just re-ran the freight from MetalCloak and it appears to be down to about $213. Last time I ran it I swear it was over $300. GenRight is $123 for shipping similar type products. Free shipping from MC would probably have me pulling the trigger on front overline flare/fenders and rear fenders. Free shipping would pretty much bring the cost of MC's in line with GenRight. Advantage for MC is that they offer black powdercoating option plus I think they look better than GenRight.

Just checked their price was more than buying directly from Metal Cloak and paying their silly shipping. Still glad I went with RK.

Sorry guys I've been absent from the forums for a while...

Quite a hot topic here, and I appreciate that... :tomatoes:

So, here is the skinny on shipping...

We use a backend called Volusion. They provide our shopping cart on the website.

As part of their programming, we put in our UPS account and it is supposed to apply our rate to all our customers orders.

After the first of the year, something changed. We were working with it to figure out the best rates we can give to you, but, apparently, it went the total opposite direction.

However, it was the feedback of our customers that had us investigating it and making the changes necessary to fix it (apparently, the rates you all were seeing were basic UPS rates - total retail - not representing our negotiated rates that we prefer to pass on to you.)

We have never had any desire to make a profit on shipping. It is, however, one of our greatest expenses, so we try to make sure all costs are covered.

We are still a small, growing, company who is blessed to have great customers like you, and we do make mistakes.

However, it is your great feedback that helps us get better and better at what we do.

As a note... we do have real, live, people available to talk with you if you have any questions at all about your build, about your order, or, in this case about screwed up shipping rates.

:action-smiley:

JKTHOMPS 02-28-2014 03:59 PM

I am going to place this here since the cost of shipping influenced me to drive to MC and pick up what I needed.

Your customer service rocks! I called yesterday and spoke to Will to make sure you had the inner fenders in stock and decided to drive up and pick them up (only about an 1hr 15min drive for me). It was a heck of a lot cheaper than the shipping I was quoted online lol. I must give props to Will for his help and knowledge. Once I got there to pick up the liners he answered all of my questions about MC's armor, fenders, bumpers and the lift. Amazed to see the original JKU and all the goodies on it. As far as the lift is concerned, I was torn between MC and RK as are many individuals. Will answered all of my questions and concerns and showed me the lift setup on the red JKU (which is a beast btw, love it!). I have decided MC all the way. I will be contacting Will over the next couple of days to order up the setup I want, and of course, after seeing the fenders and armor, I will go that route eventually when I need to replace my current finders and body armor.
Anyways, I know you guys are working on the shipping costs, but I wanted to let you know that my first experience at the MC shop was a great one and thumbs up to Will and his help. Even my wife was very happy to know that when I drop the $$$ on a product the company is close and stands by their product (which helps when it is time to $$$$).

Thanks guys!

By the way, it only took me about an hour to install the inner fenders. They are great! The only issue I have is the passenger side liner that goes towards the firewall was a pain with the all the wiring and plugs are there (2012+ JKU). However, nothing a little persuasion couldn't handle.

Thanks again and see you guys soon!

We are a tad bit higher but as far as suspension components go we should have it in stock ready to ship the same day you order.

James, Was great to meet you and I am glad I could help out. Thank you for stopping by.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to try and keep a better eye on this forum. This is a busy time of year with everyone getting their tax money and ordering parts. We are doing what we can to keep shipping down and on larger orders can usually do something to help out. As Matson said we are not looking to make money on shipping but do need to cover our cost.

If you have any questions feel free to give me a call or shoot me a PM.

JKTHOMPS 03-05-2014 06:27 PM

You as well! Thanks again for your help! Perfect timing with all the rain we had... here are the fender wells before they got really muddy lol

Wish I would have jumped on that free shipping weekend... Fenders, flares, and a bumper was quoted around $700 to ship. Going to wait and keep my fingers crossed for the next one.

PM sent

xj-boonie 03-07-2014 11:53 AM

I can't believe I missed the free shipping too - though at the time I was still deciding between two different lifts and bumpers... that's what I get for reviewing things to death!

I've got the tires and winch, just need the lift and bumper now! My fingers are crossed too!

Mike5087 03-07-2014 12:44 PM

XJ- I just placed an order yesterday (a rather large order) and Will was able to work with me on the shipping. Obviously it wasn't free, but it definitely helped. Shoot him a PM and see what he can do. Good people to do business with.

00TJSport 03-07-2014 02:45 PM

I got the full set of control arms there and really want their 3.5" springs. Guess it'll wait til next year. The new ca's made a huge difference.

JeePeters 03-08-2014 09:21 AM

FYI - I just re-ran my order on their website and for the Overline fenders with 6" flares front and rear the shipping cost is about half of what I was quoted about 2 months ago from the website. I think I first calculated freight when their online freight quoting system was screwed up.
