Zipper repair in northeast Ohio?

Well my top is in overall good condition, and is still usable but a couple of my zippers could use a fix. ( the passenger rear window doesn't zip at all, I have to rely on the velcro and the rear window keeps getting messed up ). I was wondering if anyone knows of places in northeast Ohio that do repair of the zippers on Jeep tops...

If so where are they and how much would you expect the charges to be? Any input would be awesome, thanks!

What part of the zipper is damaged? I've ordered new sliders that are very close to OEM from the internet. The teeth chain is a different story since it is sowed in to the top. Some WD40 works wonders when my zippers won't function.

Where did you get the sliders from? I'm pretty sure most of the zipper track is fine. I'll have to really look at it though to see for sure...

Thanks for the help!

Many other sources besides them. I didn't order from them, found somewhere else at the time. You just need to know the zipper size and you can find anywhere. YKK is the maker. they are the largest manufacturer of zippers in the world, and make the OEM zippers for Jeeps.

Make sure what you order is the correct orientation, some places have the correct zipper size but it zips from the inside instead of the outside. some have pull tabs on both sides, no problem there, you can remove one if needed.

Somebody told me to take it down to a boat cover retailer. The use lots of zippers and could probably fix it up.

I live in Akron, and I personally had a helluva time finding a boat cover or upholstery/canvas shop that would work on my top in this area. Nobody wanted to touch it. Then I heard about Erb's Tarp Shop in Amish country (Millersburg, by Walnut Creek). It's about an hour drive from Akron, and it does take a few weeks (he does everything by hand), but the results are amazing. I found an almost new top on craigslist for only $50 because all three zippers were shot thanks to owner idiocy, and now it's like out of the box mint . . . his info is below, and he uses an old-fashioned party-line phone that he shares with other families, so make sure you listen for directions then leave him a message and he'll get back to you within a day. Good luck.

Oh yeah, about the pricing . . . my zippers were completely shot (teeth were messed up and hardware missing), so he sewed new zippers onto top and it ran me about $40 per each zipper. He was very honest and upfront about the cost and time, because the jeeper who tipped me off about him told me his prices and he quoted the exact same. Of course, your job may not be as severe as mine. But for $50 + $120, I have basically a brand new top.
