2001 Wrangler leaks on driver side
I think I've found my leak. It's the soft top front seal on the drivers side. I found a water mark on the inside of the Jeep at the corner where the top and front door meet. From the water mark, it would drip directly down into the floorboard which explains why it is dry under the brake and gas pedal area but can get totally soaked from the front door joint back towards the front seat.
I found a gap which might be normal on the rubber seal that is attached to the top frame above the windshield on the drivers and passenger side. Under normal circumstances I would assume this would divert excess water out and away from dripping inside the jeep but for some reason, either my top has an issue in closing tightly in that area or the ridge that runs along the seal stops at both corners and water is not diverted away and outside but dripping inside. I was wondering if I could put some silicone caulk at that point on each side to try and keep the water from dripping inside the vehicle or if that's a bad idea.
I'm going to check with the local jeep place and see if my front seal needs to be replaced or if the problem is my top where it comes down on top of the seal but was hoping to make a temporary fix with the silicone caulk if that will work or should even be done. Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Can you post a pic of where it is leaking? I can't grasp it from the description ( I'm kinda dense...:)) Are you sure you're installing the top properly? My '01 has never leaked... Except when the drip rails aren't installed right, or you open the door in a downpour... ;)

I'll sure get one. It seems it's on the rubber seal that is attached to the top of the windshield and the soft top comes down on top of it and completes a seal. I followed the rubber seal along the top and it is raised up a little along the entire front of the rubber seal until it gets to the driver and passenger areas at the corners near the doors. It then is flat and appears it would allow any water that gets in and runs along that rubber seal to run off somewhere else but appears to be running off and dripping into the jeep. I'll get a picture and post it shortly. Thanks for all your help.

You can see the water stains from inside the jeep drivers side and then pictures of the front rubber seal looking down on it and then at eye level looking across from the drivers side door to the passenger door. leak appears to be coming in from the rubber seal where the raised seal that runs across the top flattens out at the corner near the drivers door. It is directly above the leak stains from inside where the other pictures show the whitish stain.

Now I'm not so sure. Just had big thunderstorm in area. No wet spot at that location but floor is damp as if it was starting to get wet. Rain water starts right at front door where it opens near the front and under the side metal of jeep and plastic at left front near left foot area. I've attached some more pictures showing possible issue with soft top on drivers side near door frame (3) pictures and one picture of floor board looking down at where wet stop starts. Heavier ran floods carpet in floor but not up to the brake and gas pedal area. That all remains dry from up under the dash down to the rubber mat on the carpet.

I think this picture will tell the true story. I believe it shows the soft top especially on the drivers side is the issue. This photo is taken from the drivers side door looking at the side and the attaching of the top to the rubber seal and windshield area. This picture shows the top fully locked in place. All replies, suggestions, responses, greatly appreciated. My first time with a Jeep and I love it except for this minor issue of the leak.

My apologies. last picture was incorrect. Hopefully this will be the correct picture from the drivers side looking across the top.

I can't really see well from the pictures, but when my soft top was leaking in that exact spot it was because of the fitment of the door surrounds. I just yanked it towards the windshield to tighten that gap and haven't had the problem return. Make sure the rubber is present on the edge of the door surround too.

I know I'm new an all, but to me it looks like the top doesn't fit as tightly on the driver's side as it does on the passenger side.

your top is bent. Either the soft top frame rails are askew, or not seated right.
Thats not how it should look. You can drive a dozer through that gap.

Is it a factory or bestop/aftermarket top?

Ill take pics of mine in the next few days and show you how it should look.

and welcome to the addiction! lolz
