is it a yj

I just bought a 1995 wrangler 4cyl manual. How do i know its a yj or something else. Also i need to drive it home tomorrow 6hr and want to check the trani and transfercase fluids before i leave any help as to where the fill holes are and what type of fluid they take would be helpful. thanks newbee

Jp90Talon 06-09-2010 04:36 PM

95's are YJs

Vaultzz 06-09-2010 04:52 PM

Ok, easiesy way to tell if its a YJ. Does it have Square Headlights? is yes then its a YJ and its awesome :p

The tranny plugs are as follows: (for an AX-15)
Drain plug is on the driver side of the transmission
Fill plug is on the passenger side of the transmission

The tranny plugs are as follows: (for an NV3550)
Drain plug is on the bottom of the transmission
Fill plug is on the driver side of the transmission (I'm 99% sure its driver)

The T-Case plugs are as follows:
Drain plug is on the rear left of the case (the lower one)
Fill plug is on the rear center of the case (the higher one)
(the plug are basicly next to eachother)

The Transmission fluid is: As far as I know it depends on what kind of transmission it is. Do you know if its a AX-15 or a NV3550?

The T-Case fluid is: ATF +4 Automatic transmission fluid

YJ = 1987-1995, no wranglers made in 1996, YJ = Square Headlights

TJ = 1997+, back to round headlights

According to:

It's a YJ

I'm going to get picky and say...

97-2006 = TJ

2007 - Present = JK

And then there are the LJ's...

Hey Toshpate, I read one of your posts a couple days ago, sorry to hear about your rollover with your CJ. Did you ever do anything with it?

Nice!!! Glad to hear your going to revive it. Sounds like it was your baby, and you obviously have the passion to revive her!
