New to Raleigh

New to the triangle area and wanna know if there are any places closer than Uwharrie to go riding. Great trails and great fun there it's just that it's 2 hours away. Any suggestions?

i have heard of some places near fayettville, and the coast, but uwharrie is your best bet for some excellent off roading.

Check out carolinaoffroadforum.com for a local group. There are a lot of us located in Wake, Durham, Orange, and Johnston counties. We get together quite frequently. We like to go to Page road (exit 282 on i40) and a local spot over in Selma off hwy 70. We have been to Carolina Backwoods near Calabash on the NC/SC line (also about 2 hrs away) and multiple trips to Uwharrie. Come join us and meet up with a lot of local people!:D

Paige is one of the best trails in the area esp if it has rained recently

I wanted to add some more fun trails close by for those in Raleigh. If you haven't been out to the south side entrance of Umstead state Park off Glenwood Ave, you should check it out. A lot of dirty roads and gravel to play in and even more fun in the rain or snow. Many miles of trails, nothing extreme just good times that won't damage your Jeep. I am always looking for another to go there with if you wanna go just let me know. Some pics below of us there recently.

Page Road area is now a staging area for the DOT while they are working on 40/540 and has been blocked off. I would consider it a No Trespassing area until they finish (prob more than a year from now).
