2003 rubicon

Hey guys was there any problems with the first rubicon model in 03? (I think it was the first yr:confused:)

I got my eye on a 2003 rubicon

Got one myself - no unusual problems that I know of.

Got one too. It had only 7500 miles on it when purchased and now has 12200. Only problem has been a broken tailpipe hanger. The one at the front of the rear wheel, not the one by the gas tank at the rear.

I bought a used one last year. No problems knock on wood.

I had one new and kept it for 5 years (battery replaced under warranty was the only issue ever) and then bought the 2008 Rubicon... I wish I had my 2003 back... a much much tougher and more reliable vehicle. You cannot go wrong with the 2003.

03 was the first year for rubicons...Thats what mine is...the only thing wrong with mine was a piss-poor previous owner....the !@#head didnt believe in greasing zerks or changing the oil i think. I replaced the lifters and the camshaft but i didnt have to...I just dont like engine tick. Only other thing I have to do now is replace the rear main seal....but TJs are known to mark their territory back there :P

Even though it was a first year for that particular type, I'm pretty sure you're not dealing with any brand new technology. It's just a different combination of options that Jeep already had in it's arsenal put together in a nice neat package so you don't get the usual glitches that come with a complete re-design.
